7 months agoCentral A/C - Install $25,000 ? DO NOT USE BOBS ? not trustworthy. Bought two brand-new AC units from Bob's Heating for $25k. One broke within 10 days, the other never worked due to missing parts. We've been waiting 20+ days with zero communication. Absolutely terrible service. -

2 years agoFirst of all, we have been long time customers of Bob's. We started using their furnace service going back to 2013. We always had a good experience with them until our most recent A/C install. The positives - they are responsive, knowledgeable, professional, they seem to care. Therefore, it felt like an easy choice to go with Bob's for our A/C install. However, our recent A/C install was a cluster. There are 2 major things that happened, both of which I have been in communication with the company about and they have been receptive about, however one of the errors was incredibly dangerous! 1) First, the most severe incident - they did not follow proper procedures to ensure the gas line was connected to the furnace upon the completion of the install. Fortunately or unfortunately, we were not living at the house after install, and so when a property manager came by after 2 weeks, they smelled gas and called PSE. PSE commented that the "line was barely connected to the furnace." This could have led to an incredibly dangerous outcome if anything had triggered a spark over the weeks no one was at the house! If we get a large bill from PSE due to the leaking of the gas - it's going to Bob's to pay! And that doesn't cover the scare that it could have been. 2) The other error that occurred, on the day of the install the electrical team accidentally drilled a hole that came into our dining room when they were feeding the wires through the crawl space to the unit outside. A manager did not call me back same day to resolve it, I ended up calling multiple times to get prompt attention. Initially I was told the fix would take 2+ weeks to get to, to which was not reasonable to our situation. Finally when a manager did call me back, we negotiated a different solution and that was resolved. Unfortunately after all of this, Bob's is no longer a company we feel comfortable working for our future needs. -

FAQ
How does Bob's Heating & Air Conditioning Services determine pricing for HVAC work?
We provide detailed written estimates that break down all costs upfront, including equipment specifications, labor, materials, permits, and any additional services. Our pricing reflects the scope of work needed-whether that's a simple repair, duct sealing, or a full system installation. We recommend getting your home evaluated so we can give you an accurate quote based on your specific needs rather than using rough estimates.
Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?
Bob's Heating & Air Conditioning Services maintains the proper licensing and insurance coverage required to protect both your home and our team during any work we perform. When you contact us, we're happy to provide proof of our credentials and answer any questions about our certifications, including EPA 608 refrigerant handling certification. This ensures you're working with a qualified contractor who meets state and local requirements.
What specific services does Bob's Heating & Air Conditioning Services offer beyond standard AC and heating?
We handle comprehensive HVAC solutions including duct cleaning, duct sealing, static pressure testing, dryer vent cleaning, and hot water heater repair. For new construction and remodels, we also provide system design and installation. Our thorough approach means we inspect your entire system-ductwork, airflow, electrical components-to identify issues that affect efficiency and comfort.
What should I expect in terms of timeline and scheduling?
Bob's Heating & Air Conditioning Services works with you to establish a clear timeline from initial consultation through completion. We'll discuss permitting requirements if applicable, explain what happens on installation day, and let you know how long the work typically takes. Our team communicates arrival windows and logistics upfront so you can plan accordingly and understand what to expect throughout the process.
How does Bob's Heating & Air Conditioning Services handle cleanup and protect my home during service?
We take care to protect your home during any work by using drop cloths and maintaining a clean work area throughout the project. After completion, we remove debris and waste materials properly, leaving your space clean and ready to use. Our technicians also walk you through system operation, maintenance requirements, and warranty registration so you're fully informed about your new or repaired equipment.
Why is a professional HVAC evaluation better than DIY troubleshooting or online sizing?
A proper load calculation and whole-home evaluation account for factors like square footage, insulation levels, window placement, sun exposure, and existing ductwork-details that DIY methods miss. Incorrectly sized equipment wastes energy and money, while improper installation can reduce efficiency and shorten system lifespan. We use industry-standard practices including refrigerant charge verification, static pressure testing, and airflow measurement to ensure your system performs safely and efficiently from day one.
