5 months agoI had a great experiencing buying a home this year and can say the only blip in the whole experience was getting the WDI inspection done. Home inspector called two beam that showed (heavy) signs of fungal growth and decay. WDI inspector said that the house had no signs of fungal growth or damage related to fungus and moisture underneath. Being in the pest control and structural repair business I was not going to let two rotten beam stop be from buying the house, but I want to make others aware of their practice. There is absolutely no company that should be giving clear WDI letters when visible damage such as the attached pictures shows. It is irresponsible and bad practice as the crawlspace is somewhere MOST homeowners don't go. Fortunately I do routine inspections and I am confident in my ability to identify and remedy the issue. There are a lot of fail safes in the WDI paper work to cover inspectors by referencing "low-visibility" "visual inspection only" "insulation covering wood members" and so on, but the only excuse for this is gross negligence. A qualified inspector could not, and would not fail to notate these issues unless they physically didn't complete the inspection. I won't post the inspectors name, but be aware. -

5 months agoThis is the second day in a row that no one has shown up for my extermination appointment. I can't get through to anyone in the office. Hug-A-Bug is cheap, but you get what you pay for. -

7 months agoLove this agency! We've used them for both of our houses and for over 5 years. There's never a time of day where they aren't available or the owner Mr. Jim hasn't made sure our needs are addressed. They don't dry to shorthand you like other companies either. We reviewed 3 other quotes from foundation companies that were well over $30k. They came in at less than half the price. They truly care about your wants and make everything urgent. Wouldn't have picked anyone else!! -

10 months agoWarning to ALL Realtors and Consumers! I paid $9,125.00 on 5/13/2024 for Hug A Bug to complete termite and moisture issues on my home prior to listing it for sale. I was told work was completed. In January we received an offer and the buyer completed their home inspection. I was told the termite and moisture damage was extensive, and in desperate need of attention. I call John to ask what the problem was. He stated "I don't know what to say". I was furious. This company literally took NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS of my money and walked away. Never did ANYTHING. If the buyer wouldn't have had an inspection I would have never known John and his company had quite frankly robbed me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They will and HAVE taken people's money and walked away. Very disappointed in this company that I had previously trusted with my own homes and my clients homes for over 12 years. Never again, Katie Burke- Owner Katie Burke Homes

FAQ
How does Hug-A-Bug Pest Control & Termite determine pricing for pest control services?
We assess pricing based on the type of pest or wildlife issue, the extent of the infestation, and the size of the property after an initial inspection. Factors like termite damage or moisture treatments also influence the final quote. Homeowners receive a clear breakdown to understand the value provided for wildlife and pest control.
Are you licensed and insured for pest and termite work?
Hug-A-Bug Pest Control & Termite holds the necessary licensing and insurance required for wildlife, pest control, and termite services in Virginia Beach. Our owner and team directly manage operations to ensure compliance during home inspections, sales preparations, and ongoing treatments. This setup protects homeowners throughout every service.
Does Hug-A-Bug Pest Control & Termite handle wildlife intrusions, termite damage, and specific pests like wasps and fleas?
We manage wildlife intrusions, termite and moisture treatments, along with pests such as wasps and fleas commonly found in homes. Our services cover foundation damage from termites or wildlife, large wasp nests on structures, and severe flea infestations on carpets. This comprehensive scope addresses issues seen during property inspections and recurring maintenance.
What should I expect for scheduling and arrival times with you?
We provide flexible scheduling for appointments, with the owner and team responding directly to accommodate homeowners' needs any time of day. Initial services like WDI inspections or extermination visits follow agreed timelines, though arrival windows depend on the job's complexity. Contact us promptly to set expectations and avoid delays in your pest control plan.
How does Hug-A-Bug Pest Control & Termite handle cleanup and after-care following treatments?
We remove pest debris such as wasp nests and honeycombs after treatment, leaving your property clean and safe. For termite or moisture work, we ensure affected areas are addressed without unnecessary mess during home sales or inspections. Ongoing recurring services maintain clear properties year-round.
Why is your professional pest control approach better and safer than DIY methods?
Our methods involve thorough inspections to identify entry points and conducive conditions, unlike DIY efforts that often miss hidden issues like termite beams or wildlife damage. We use targeted treatments for pests like fleas and wasps, reducing risks compared to improper home chemicals. Professionals ensure complete removal and prevention, avoiding recurring infestations that DIY typically fails to stop.
