APP initially came in to encapsulate our crawlspace and renovate our bathroom in our new home due to water damage. Some structural issues were discovered, and they were able to fix those as well. Our bathroom turned out beautifully and we could not be more grateful to Hunter and his team - Nathan Patterson, Robert Railton, and Steven Ingold. Our crawlspace is now fully encapsulated, complete with new plumbing and new jacks under the bathroom. Their communication was fantastic, they thoroughly explained what was needed each step of the way and were extremely patient with my design changes. They did a very thorough job that will last a long time. We love how the bathroom turned out, thank you SO much for bringing our dreams to life! We look forward to working with APP again on any future projects!

Hunter was very responsive, kind, and informative when I first reached out to him about installing an exhaust fan in my upstairs bathroom, as well as having my basement crawlspace cleaned out, encapsulated, and adding a dehumidifier. Cameron Campbell, Rob Railton, and Jessie Gilley are the fellas that came out to do the work and I must say they all did a fantastic job. It's obvious that they know what they're doing; they installed the exhaust fan seamlessly into my 1940s era bathroom and it looks like it was always there. They did both jobs well and cleaned up after. They were kind and patient with my nosy dog, and me -- with my many questions and curiosities. I highly recommend Appalachian Property Preservation for any water damage, clean up, or contracting work you might need done. Thank you so much for everything!

Hunter and his team are far and away one of my favorite contracting companies in town. I've called on them for help with numerous homes that I've renovated, and as a realtor, I recommend APP to any clients that need structural repair, waterproofing, etc. Not only do you get a prompt response to your initial inquiry, but Hunter comes out quickly to view the job and provides accurate estimates. Unlike so many contractors I work with, there's no evidence of their crew having been in the home- except for the actual repair! No muddy shoe prints, no dust, no cigarette butts laying around. They are prompt, tidy, and polite! I've learned so much just from having Hunter on these jobs- he is a wealth of knowledge and can explain in simple terms what is wrong and how it's repaired. He really takes the time to show me exactly what's going on every time, which I appreciate so much. Structural issues are never fun, but when they do arise, I'm grateful I know who to call!

We asked Appalachian Property Preservation to come out and take a look at our house after we noticed some mold on the floor joists in our basement. Hunter came in and did an assessment on the issues, and explained the mold remediation process to us. He was thorough, super knowledgeable, and answered all our questions. Cameron and Steven came in and did the work. They were professional and personable and did an amazing job. If we have any other house related issues, Appalachian Property Preservation will be the first call that we make.

FAQ

Does Appalachian Foundation Services offer free estimates for foundation repair and crawl space encapsulation?

We provide free estimates after an on-site assessment to evaluate the specific needs of your foundation, crawl space, or basement issues. Pricing depends on factors like the extent of damage, materials required for stabilization or waterproofing, and structural engineering needs. Contact us to schedule a visit and get a custom quote tailored to your home.

Are you licensed and insured for foundation repair and structural work?

Appalachian Foundation Services is fully licensed and insured to handle foundation repairs, basement waterproofing, and structural fixes in Roanoke, VA. Our team follows local regulations and uses structural engineering for assessments on sinking foundations, leaning walls, and sagging floor systems. This ensures all work meets safety standards and protects your property during repairs.

Does Appalachian Foundation Services handle crawl space encapsulation, mold remediation, and deck structural repairs?

We specialize in crawl space encapsulation with vapor barriers and new support posts, mold remediation on floor joists and basement areas, and deck structural repairs alongside foundation lifting and stabilization. Our services also include sump pump installations, rim joist and sill plate fixes, and full build-backs from water damage. These tasks address common issues shown in before-and-after photos of messy crawl spaces turned clean and supported.

What is the typical timeline and scheduling process for your projects?

We communicate clear expectations and timelines upfront, with Hunter coordinating arrival windows that fit your schedule. Projects like crawl space encapsulation or foundation stabilization often complete in days to weeks, depending on scope, as our crew works efficiently on tasks like installing support beams. Expect regular updates from the team, including Jessie, Steven, and Cameron, to keep you informed throughout.

How does Appalachian Foundation Services handle cleanup and debris after crawl space or basement work?

We leave your home clean by removing all debris, dirt, and waste from crawl spaces, basements, or renovation sites after encapsulation, repairs, or mold remediation. Our crew manages mess from before conditions like damp corners or cluttered areas, ensuring structural supports and vapor barriers are installed without leaving damage. This includes thorough cleanup post-installation of sump pumps or retaining walls.

Why is hiring you for foundation repair safer than attempting DIY fixes on bowing foundations or sagging floors?

Professional repairs use structural engineering to stabilize sinking or bowing foundations, leaning walls, and sagging floor systems with precise support beams and posts, avoiding further damage from improper methods. DIY attempts often overlook soil conditions, moisture issues, or load-bearing needs, leading to worsened cracks or instability over time. Our experienced team ensures long-term safety through proven techniques like encapsulation and waterproofing, which prevent recurring water damage or mold.
