3 months agoI can't say enough about this service. They clearly knew how to evaluate and fix the door. Unfortunately, it required more than I wanted To do, and they graciously took it out and disposed of the door. The price was fair, and the guys wonderful. I could not recommend them more. -

7 months agoThe work performed by Mike Maintenance was phenomenal. They were professional, highly skilled and very flexible with time scheduling and management. They were very friendly and paid great respect to my townhouse and clean up. Even when problems arised with repair to an attached house fixture, they were able to analyze and solve it satisfactory. I would highly recommended Mike Maintenance for your repair and installation needs. -

1 year agoOnly giving two stars because he was able to come out same day. He was sent via my home warranty company to fix my ac unit and get it running. Before he came to my home I had a contractor come who said my compressor was about to go and I was overfilled on refrigerant. I said well okay. I will wait for whomever my home warranty sends out. My unit is still running outside however no air is being pushed into the house. Home warranty was able to get him to come out on a Monday. He came at like 6/7pm. He stated I needed a new capacitor and I was 3 lbs low on refrigerant and I needed a maintenance service because it was dirty. Home warranty calls and states they will only cover the capacitor and one pound of refrigerant the rest I have to pay out of pocket. I said fine if this will get me up and running and my family out of the heat. I paid him 482.00. He was at home for no longer than 20 min. And I have the camera footage to show. He then tells me to close all windows turn all ceiling fans to run counter clockwise and in 3-4 hours we should fine. That time passed and we were still without ac. I messaged him and called home serve to let them the issue was not resolved. I came home and decided to go out to see if my unit was running and it was still running as normals. However I noticed my line from the ac unit to the house was covered in ice. Now my prior to him coming and the other contractor my line was not covered in any type of ice. I messaged him with a picture to ask him what did he do and show him my line now now frozen over. I turn my unit off for two hours to allow the ice to thaw then turned it back on and nothing. He then arrives at 6/630 pm. After messaging me at 4pm he was on his way. He get to my home puts Tempe gun to the ac unit and say it's running fine the heat exchanger is working I don't know why it iced. He proceeded to remove a drain tube and I very little water dripping he said oh it's frozen somewhere else. U need to let thaw and I can't sit here and wait for it to thaw. Turn your unit off and put the fan on on. Give it two hours turn it back on. Not even 15 min went past and the drip stopped but I waited the two hours before turning the unit back on and nothing. Following morning I message him and he is like oh u have a leak. If that was the case why was that not disclosed why I didn't have signs of that prior to. Becuz he is a liar. I requested a refund so I can go take my family to a hotel since obviously he couldn't do what he was supposed to do and he pretty much ripped me off. He would not give even a partial refund. I said I paid u for a maintenance service and u didn't do it. That should warrant a refund. He fiddled and diddled and made it worse and didn't even have the decency to refund or attempt to make it right. I mean no thorough inspection inside and out nothing. Just stating I can't give refrigerant for free. From the looks of it he never did. I filed a compliant with the warranty company and BBB. This is crazy that he would not fix the unit and take people money and be okay with having me and my kids in a hot home. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL. the ability to do a job fully the customer service or lack there of. Just pay the money and go with someone reputable. So now I am out $500 and air conditioning. -

FAQ
How does Mike's Maintenance & Mechanical Services LLC determine pricing for HVAC and handyman services?
We determine pricing based on the specific scope of work, including parts, labor, and any necessary materials after an initial evaluation of your HVAC system or handyman project. Free estimates are provided upfront to give you a clear picture of costs without hidden fees. This approach ensures you understand the full value before committing to thermostat installation, repairs, or full system maintenance.
Are you licensed, insured, and able to handle HVAC repairs and handyman tasks?
Mike's Maintenance & Mechanical Services LLC carries the required licensing, bonding, and insurance to perform HVAC and handyman work safely and in compliance with local regulations in Hampton, VA. Our technicians hold necessary certifications, such as EPA 608 for refrigerant handling, to protect your home and investment. Homeowners can request proof of these credentials during scheduling for added peace of mind.
Does Mike's Maintenance & Mechanical Services LLC offer thermostat installation, repairs, and door removal services?
We handle a full range of HVAC tasks like thermostat installation and repair, as well as handyman services including door evaluation, removal, and disposal when repairs exceed practical limits. Our comprehensive approach covers everything from system maintenance to keeping your home functional year-round. This ensures all aspects of comfort and repairs are addressed under one service.
What is your typical timeline and arrival window for service calls?
Mike's Maintenance & Mechanical Services LLC schedules service the very next day when possible and arrives within the promised window, often in under two hours for urgent HVAC or handyman needs. We maintain flexible scheduling to fit your availability while prioritizing prompt response times. Clear communication about expected arrival helps you plan without unnecessary waits.
How does Mike's Maintenance & Mechanical Services LLC handle cleanup and debris disposal after a job?
We remove and properly dispose of old doors, thermostats, or other waste materials generated during HVAC repairs or handyman projects. Our team leaves your home clean and functional, respecting your space throughout the process. This includes hauling away debris so you avoid dealing with disposal logistics yourself.
Why is hiring you for HVAC maintenance safer and more effective than attempting DIY fixes?
Professional HVAC work involves evaluating ductwork, airflow, static pressure, and refrigerant levels, which require specialized tools and knowledge to avoid inefficiencies or system damage that DIY often causes. We follow industry standards for sizing, installation verification, and testing to ensure long-term performance and safety, unlike unguided home attempts that can lead to higher energy bills or breakdowns. Homeowners benefit from our skilled assessments that identify issues early and prevent costly future repairs.
