These days, it can often be a gamble when you hire a company you have never worked with to do repairs on your home. We got bids from several different foundation companies, all of which sounded good. Prices varied somewhat as well as the type of piers recommended. We got the best impression from Metro-Tex after Steve Sutherland came over and did measurements. We liked that as owner of the company he was very hands on, which turned out to be the case as he came out by himself to clear holly bushes in the front flower bed so his crew could start working right away once they arrived to do the work. After the job was completed, he came back and helped me take down two crepe myrtle trees which he said might be a problem down the road. Steve takes great pride in his work and will do whatever it takes to get the job done right. Should we ever need any more work done, we will certainly use Metro-Tex.

For sometime now we've had a few cracks in some of the drywall on the inside of the house and some in the mortar on the outside. While the cracks are not significant, they are noticeable so we decided to call some foundation companies and get their assessment. The first two companies recommended several piers. The first company estimate for piers was over $24,000 plus a recommendation to add French drains at a cost in excess of $6,000, totaling over $30,000 for the entire job. The second company suggested several piers but did not mention adding French drains. We did not receive a quote from the second company as they suggested the measurements they took would likely be different once summer comes and the soil dries out. I suggested we wait and retake the measurements in August so no quote was provided. I'm writing this review for the third company we reached out to, Metro Tex Foundations. As Steve, the owner, walked around the house and through the inside of the house as I pointed out the cracks we called about, he jokingly said, Sir, you have and I quote, "champagne problems". Meaning our issues are not major as we thought they might be, and in fact they're really just cosmetic and to be expected due to north Texas soil and age of our mid 70's house. Steve recommended doing nothing to my surprise. He was happy to install piers if I wanted, but said it wouldn't make a significant different with what I'm experiencing. WOW.....when does a contactor recommend doing nothing!!! In fact he provide a report of his assessment they usually don't provide since they were doing nothing, but he did. So the assessment was free, and the report was free, definitely not expected! If you're experiencing foundation issues, I'd strongly recommend getting multiple opinions and for sure, get one from Metro Tex Foundation! Maybe you need foundation repair, maybe you don't, but I'm comfortable saying Metro Tex Foundation will give you an honest opinion of what you do or DON'T need.

FAQ

How much does foundation repair by Metro-Tex Foundation, Inc. cost, and do you provide free estimates?

We determine pricing based on the specific needs of your home, such as the number of piers required and drainage corrections, following an on-site elevation measurement and assessment. Projects have ranged from $3,000 for 12 piers to $5,500 for interior and exterior installations. We offer free estimates after an initial visit to evaluate your foundation issues.

Are you licensed and insured for foundation repair work?

Metro-Tex Foundation, Inc. operates as licensed general contractors specializing in foundation repair, concrete work, and drainage solutions in Plano, TX. Homeowners can verify our credentials through standard industry channels for contractors in North Texas. Our nearly three decades of experience handling local soil challenges ensure compliance with all necessary regulations.

Does Metro-Tex Foundation, Inc. handle drilled piers, drainage corrections, and repairs for cracks like those in brick walls?

We specialize in drilled piers installed around the exterior or interior of homes to stabilize foundations affected by North Texas soil movement. Our services also include drainage corrections to prevent future issues, addressing problems like severe vertical cracks in brick walls. As general contractors, we manage the full scope from concrete work to piering with hydraulic jacks for precise lifting.

What is your typical timeline for foundation repair projects?

Metro-Tex Foundation, Inc. performs all work on time, with projects like installing 30 piers around a home's exterior completed within the agreed schedule. Timelines depend on the scope, such as the number of piers and site access, but we provide clear expectations upfront after measuring elevations. Most repairs wrap up efficiently once mobilization begins.

What happens to debris and cleanup after Metro-Tex Foundation, Inc. completes a foundation repair?

We handle excavation from pier installations and trench work by removing debris and restoring your property as part of the standard process. Your home is left clean and functional, with minimal disruption from the hydraulic jacking and concrete pouring. Expect the site to be tidied up before our team departs, allowing you to resume normal use promptly.

Why is hiring you for foundation repair better and safer than attempting a DIY fix?

Our nearly three decades of refining drilled pier and drainage methods make repairs effective against North Texas expansive soils, unlike DIY efforts that often fail to reach stable depths. Professional techniques using hydraulic jacks and precise pier placement prevent further shifting, while DIY lacks the engineering insight for lasting stability. Homeowners avoid risks like uneven lifting or worsened cracks by relying on proven contractor expertise.
