Very happy with Chapman Air and Heat. I had a great experience. I worked with Suyin. Suyin did an excellent job guiding me through several options. She was very detailed oriented. Installation went smooth great attention to detail. Things like putting down floor protection. They cleaned up the work area (no screws all over the place like last company I had). The custom duct / interconnection work they did fits perfect (no leaks). I Could not be happier. Chapman were the original contractor 20 odd years ago when my house was built. They provided me with quality equipment at a fair price. 4 weeks ago I had another local AC company convince me to install a brand new inside evaporator coil and outside condenser unit from another manufacturer because I had a leak in my original evaporator coil. The unit they installed was so loud and was making a vibrating / resonating noise in my wall (that was not present with my old system) that I couldn't watch TV in that room and when it would kick on it would make me jump it was so loud. Other company wanted me to open up my wall on my dime to "fix the problem"! Boy do I wish I had never done that and just gone with Chapman in the first place. Chapman came and installed a new system that is silent and I didn't need to open my wall.

Scheduling is not good. Noon to 5:00 PM window, promised 30 minutes notice. I have been sitting around since 11:30 AM, called two or three times. 4:45 PM, they say no time soon, not sure when. Unhappy.

Chapman Air & Heat did a great job of installing a new A/C unit at my house. The price was reasonable & competitive. The office staff (especially Sue & Jeff, the ones that we dealt with the most) were exceptional at all times. They were friendly, helpful, and good at what they do. They really were strongly committed to customer satisfaction. On several occasions Sue dropped whatever she was in the middle of at the office and came to our house to make sure everything was going great, whether it was paperwork or pricing questions, or to update me on the status of the installation. She always was both very friendly and very knowledgeable. And the two men who actually installed the unit did a great job too.

It pains me to write this review because we're so grateful for the help Bobby the technician provided. However, it's been two months since we reported our broken AC unit, and Chapman has failed to resolve it despite four reschedules. While two delays were due to rain, the others were caused by disorganization and unprofessionalism from the office manager. Today's call was especially frustrating: we were told a single call was made to confirm the tech's arrival, but no messag, no text and I NEVER received it. After four reschedules, we were suddenly informed that our zip code is now "too far" for them to service, and it would be another month before they could fix our AC. This level of service is simply unacceptable in the Texas heat. I was so frustrated, I hung up. I'm shocked at how poorly Chapman has treated a customer in need of urgent repairs. I sincerely hope Chapman reconsiders their approach to customer service and takes action to make this right. UPDATE: After posting our initial review, Chapman's office called and offered to have Bobby, the technician, come out the very next morning at 8 a.m. We reluctantly accepted, as we had already mentally moved on and scheduled with another company. There was yet another mix-up between when the office said Bobby would arrive and when he was actually available, but he still came and had our AC unit fixed in no time! That said, I'm still not sure we'd call Chapman's again. There were no apologies from the office, their scheduling system feels outdated, and we've still haven't received any information about their service plans. It just seems like there are better-managed options out there. That being said, finding a truly excellent AC technician is rare - and Bobby is definitely that.

FAQ

How does Chapman Air and Heat determine pricing for HVAC installation and repairs?

We provide detailed written estimates that break down all costs upfront, including equipment model numbers, labor, permits, materials, and any additional services. This transparent approach helps you understand exactly what you're paying for and prevents surprise charges when the job is complete. We're happy to discuss your budget and answer questions about what's included or excluded from our quote before you decide to move forward.

Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

Chapman Air and Heat maintains the proper licensing and insurance required to operate in the Dallas area and handle HVAC work safely and legally. We carry workers' compensation and general liability insurance to protect your home and property during installation and repair work. You can ask us to provide proof of our credentials and insurance coverage so you have complete confidence in our qualifications.

Does Chapman Air and Heat inspect ductwork and airflow as part of your service?

Yes, we conduct thorough inspections of your entire HVAC system, including ductwork, airflow, and static pressure measurements. Proper ductwork is essential for system efficiency and comfort-even correctly sized equipment can underperform if ducts are leaky, restricted, or poorly designed. If we identify issues like kinks, undersized runs, or poor transitions, we'll propose solutions to bring your system up to manufacturer specifications.

What should I expect on installation day in terms of timeline and cleanup?

Chapman Air and Heat will discuss the expected timeline from deposit to completion before work begins, so you can plan accordingly. Our team uses drop cloths and takes care to protect your home during the installation process, and we handle cleanup once the work is finished. We'll also walk you through how to operate your new system, explain maintenance requirements, and help you register your warranty so you're fully prepared to use your equipment.

Does Chapman Air and Heat offer maintenance plans to keep my system running efficiently?

We offer maintenance and service plans designed to preserve your system's efficiency and catch potential issues early. Routine tune-ups typically include inspections of refrigerant levels, electrical connections, airflow, and condensate drains-all critical components that affect performance and longevity. A good service plan can extend your equipment's lifespan and help you avoid costly emergency repairs down the road.

Why is professional HVAC installation better than attempting it yourself?

Improper installation can significantly reduce system efficiency and shorten equipment lifespan, which is why professional installation matters. Our technicians follow industry best practices including proper refrigerant charge verification, correct line set sizing and insulation, safe electrical connections, and proper condensate management. After installation, we test system performance to ensure everything is operating at manufacturer specifications, giving you confidence that your investment will deliver comfort and efficiency for years to come.
