7 years agoThey installed a 2.5 ton unit knowing the return air 10" duct would not handle the volume. Needed a minimum 14". Bumped the fan speed to high to push more volume through but it only collapsed the return air vent. The return air is a 40' duct. They quoted originall $6700 to replace the duct and then reduced it to $4000. A second quote with a 30 year licensed contractor was $700. I feel they were truly trying to gouge us. Would never recommend them going forward.

We provide free, detailed estimates for all HVAC repairs, furnace fixes, and system installations after an initial inspection of your home. These estimates break down labor, parts, and any necessary duct modifications to ensure transparency. Homeowners can review the full scope before committing to the work.
Are you licensed and insured for HVAC and plumbing services?
The Surfin' Plumbers holds all required local licenses and carries full insurance coverage, including general liability and workers' compensation, to protect your property during service. Our team complies with state regulations for handling refrigerants and installations. You can request proof of these credentials at any time.

Why is hiring you safer and more effective than attempting HVAC repairs as a DIY project?
Professional HVAC work requires precise duct sizing, airflow measurements, and refrigerant handling to avoid system failures like collapsed returns from inadequate volume. DIY attempts often lead to higher energy bills and premature breakdowns without these specialized tools and knowledge.
