7 months agoTried reaching out by email to see what was requires to sell catalytic converter I obtained while working at a very reputable automotive repair facility. Never received a reply. So I brought credentials that their website said would work. Turns out being a licensed mechanic was not what they meant. I drove a long distance to try and sell these and it was a waste of time. The manager was rude and did not try to help me at all. Would not recommend anyone go to this place. They need your fingerprint, license, and tag number in order to sell anything, even beer cans. There are definitely better options.

FAQ
How does Metal Recycling Inc determine the price for my scrap metal?
We evaluate your scrap metal based on the type and weight of materials you bring in. Ferrous metals like steel and iron, non-ferrous metals like aluminum and copper, and specialty items like catalytic converters and tires each have different market values. We provide fair prices on the spot after assessing what you have, so you'll know exactly what you're getting paid before you leave.
Are you licensed and insured to handle scrap metal recycling?
Metal Recycling Inc operates as a professional scrap metal buyer and recycling facility in Johnson City, TN. Our customers consistently recognize our straightforward operations and fair dealing practices. If you have specific licensing or insurance questions before bringing materials in, we recommend calling ahead to confirm our credentials match your needs.
What types of metal and materials does Metal Recycling Inc accept?
We handle both ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals, including catalytic converters, tires, radiators, brake rotors, wheels, and general metal waste from automotive, industrial, and household sources. Our facility is equipped to process a wide range of metal types. If you're unsure whether a specific material qualifies, bring it by or contact us first to confirm we can accept it.
How long does it typically take to drop off and get paid for my scrap?
Metal Recycling Inc has streamlined the drop-off process to be quick and efficient. Once you arrive at our location on Woodlyn Rd, we'll assess your materials and provide payment on the spot. Most transactions move smoothly without long wait times, though busy periods may occasionally affect timing. We recommend arriving during standard business hours for the fastest service.
What happens to my scrap metal after I drop it off at Metal Recycling Inc?
Your materials are sorted and processed according to metal type and quality standards. Ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, and specialty items like catalytic converters are handled separately to maximize recycling value. Everything is managed responsibly to ensure proper environmental handling and market-ready preparation for downstream recycling operations.
Why should I sell my scrap metal to you instead of trying to handle it myself?
Handling scrap metal yourself involves safety risks, storage challenges, and uncertainty about fair market pricing. We have the equipment, expertise, and established relationships to process materials safely and efficiently. By bringing your scrap to us, you avoid the hassle of storing heavy materials, dealing with transportation logistics, and researching fluctuating metal prices-we handle all of that and pay you fairly on the spot.
