5 years agoThis is the second time we have used Flooring By Cogdill and the second time we have been disappointed. After shopping around, we used them only because we could get the color and fiber we wanted. The master BR and closet carpet ordered on March 3rd. Because of Covid, we requested a delayed installation. Installation scheduled 3 weeks prior to the installation date, July 30th. All requested preparations done and our schedules were arranged for the installation to begin at 9:30-10 am. We were to get a call before arrival. When no call was received, we called at 9:15 only to get a voicemail. 10 am, Buckley, who is in charge of installation scheduling, called to tell us the installer was having truck problems but would be here late. 10:45, Buckley called to tell us the installation would NOT happen as scheduled. A call and voicemail message left for Bradley Cogdill, who was in the store at the time, was ignored. Carpet was installed the following day. While the installers were friendly, to clean up, they swept the carpet using our broom and dustpan. No vacuuming was done at all. What company installs carpet and does not vacuum up the mess? It took almost an hour to vacuum the carpet and three times empting the vacuum dirt container to finish what the installers should have done. Now we know why Carpet One stressed that they do not use subcontractors to lay carpet but have their own Carpet One Installers. When presented the invoice, it did not reflect the 50% deposit we had paid! Call to Bradley was again ignored. Kim answered a second call, told us Bradley was off that day, but she was of little help other than acknowledging the payment of the deposit. Request to have Bradley Cogdill call on Saturday, when he was due to be in the store, was ignored. DO NOT USE FLOORING BY COGDILL. The service and public relations is very unprofessional. -

FAQ
How does Flooring by Cogdill determine pricing for carpet installation?
We provide custom quotes based on your specific project needs, including the type of carpet selected, room size, and any additional services required. Our pricing takes into account factors like carpet quality, padding, labor, and extras such as furniture moving or old carpet removal. We recommend calling us or visiting our showroom at 1700 Huger St in Columbia, SC to discuss your budget and get an accurate estimate for your flooring project.
Are you licensed and insured?
Flooring by Cogdill operates as a professional carpet and flooring contractor serving the Columbia, SC area. When hiring any flooring professional, it's important to verify licensing and insurance coverage to protect yourself in case of accidents or damage during installation. We recommend asking about our credentials and insurance details when you contact us or visit our location.
Does Flooring by Cogdill offer rug binding services, and what's the cost?
Yes, we specialize in rug binding and offer a set price of $90 to bind any size rug. This service is perfect whether you've purchased carpet remnants from us or brought your own material from elsewhere. Our binding service helps give your carpet or rug a finished, professional edge and extends its lifespan.
What should I expect during the installation process?
Flooring by Cogdill handles the full installation process, which typically includes measuring your space, preparing the subfloor, installing padding and carpet, and handling seam placement and pattern matching. We can discuss furniture moving arrangements during your quote-some jobs include this service while others may be handled on a per-job basis to help manage costs. Our team will work to minimize disruption to your home and complete the project efficiently.
How does Flooring by Cogdill handle cleanup and disposal of old carpet?
We manage the removal and disposal of old carpet as part of our installation service. The specifics of what's included in your project cost should be clearly outlined in your written quote before work begins. This ensures you understand exactly what we're responsible for and helps avoid any surprises when the job is complete.
Why should I hire a professional installer instead of doing carpet installation myself?
Professional carpet installation requires specialized knowledge and tools that most homeowners don't have. Proper subfloor preparation, seam placement, pattern matching, and stretching are critical to ensuring your carpet looks great and lasts for years. A professional installer can also identify potential issues with your subfloor or moisture that could damage new carpet, protecting your investment and saving you money in the long run.
