2 years agoIt's OVER a HUNDRED degrees in Houston! My retired parents' air conditioner no longer circulated cold air and Tek-Aire was highly recommended by my mom's friend.Mikeson came out after we agreed to the $150 service charge, which will go towards the repair cost. After inspection, he and gave us a quote for a new unit costing $12,500. My elderly parents wanted the existing unit fixed instead. Mikeson reluctantly 'fixes' our A/C and charged $300. The price doubled because this was a small repair job, he charges for service PLUS repair. Again, he insisted we needed a new unit instead. ONE WEEK LATER, our A/C stopped working completely. We asked for him to come back out to look. Mikeson said he will come out only if we replace the unit. He cut us a deal, $9,000 instead of the original 12.5K he quoted us. From the receipt, "All labor performed by Tek-Aire Services, Inc is warranted for 90 days or is otherwise indicated in writing." Mikeson said he will not warranty his work or for the material. No guarantee for his labor. Since we aren't buying a new unit, he won't return. He won't inspect his work. My father got in touch with our regular A/C repair guy and they were able to stop by in half an hour. We did not need a new unit. The compressor was a little over a year old. We learned that MikeSON replaced our capacitor with an undersized capacitor and wiring, forcing it to burn out. Beware. MikeSON's way of 'fixing' your A/C is to trick you into buying a new one.
