FAQ
How does Wood's Heating Service determine pricing for furnace and heat pump installations?
We provide custom written estimates that break down all costs upfront, including equipment specifications, labor, permits, and any additional materials needed for your project. Our estimate process starts with understanding your home's specific heating needs and system requirements. We're transparent about what's included and what isn't, so you won't face surprise charges when the work is complete. We also help identify any utility rebates or manufacturer incentives you may qualify for to reduce your overall investment.
Are you licensed, insured, and certified to handle HVAC work?
Wood's Heating Service maintains all required licensing and insurance to operate as an HVAC contractor in Rhode Island. Our team includes certified technicians trained on the equipment we install, including Trane and Fujitsu systems. We handle everything from furnace installations to heat pump replacements with the proper credentials and coverage to protect your home and investment. You can ask for proof of our licenses and insurance before we begin any work.
Can Wood's Heating Service handle oil tank replacement and other non-furnace issues?
We go beyond standard furnace and heat pump work-our team is trained to spot and address related issues like oil tank leaks and replacements during routine maintenance or installations. Many homeowners discover secondary problems during our annual cleaning and inspection visits, and we take time to explain what we find and recommend solutions. Our decades of experience serving the Tiverton and East Providence area means we understand the full scope of heating system needs in older homes. We also provide plumbing services, so we can coordinate multiple home systems when necessary.
What should I expect for timeline and scheduling when I contact you about a new system?
Wood's Heating Service works with you to schedule an initial consultation where we assess your current system and discuss your needs. Once you approve the estimate, we coordinate installation timing based on your availability and any required permits. Our team communicates clearly about arrival windows and what to expect on installation day so you can plan accordingly. We prioritize getting the work done efficiently while maintaining the quality standards our customers have trusted us for over 40 years.
How does Wood's Heating Service protect my home during installation and handle cleanup?
Our installation process includes protecting your home with drop cloths and taking care to minimize disruption to your living space. We handle debris removal and leave your home clean once the work is complete, so you're not left managing the aftermath of the project. Our team takes pride in professional workmanship that extends beyond just installing equipment-it includes respecting your home and property. We also walk you through operation and maintenance of your new system before we leave.
Why is professional HVAC installation better than attempting this work yourself?
Improper installation can significantly reduce system efficiency and shorten equipment lifespan, which means higher energy bills and costly repairs down the road. Professional installation requires proper refrigerant charging, correct line set sizing, electrical connections, and ductwork evaluation-details that directly impact performance and safety. We verify system performance after installation by checking airflow, refrigerant charge, and static pressure to manufacturer specifications. Our experience with multiple equipment types and home configurations ensures your system is sized and set up correctly for your specific needs, not guesswork.
