2 months agoI've been with Leffler for 2 years. Just called to close my account and will be looking for oil deliveries elsewhere. I suggest you do the same. Their prices seem to be rising and it feels to me like they are taking advantage of their customers. Based on other reviews I've read, I'm not the only one that feels this way. It usually costs around $600 to fill my tank but my last bills have been around $690 and then my latest bill jumped up to $735 for around the same amount of oil delivered? On top of that, my service agreement was about to renew for $100 more than last year. Like I said, it seems to me that they're taking advantage of their customers. The saleswoman I talked to was very nice, but one of the reasons she gave for the high prices was "Peace of mind that Leffler will always deliver on time, whereas other, smaller companies may not". If that's a reason for jacking up prices, then I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. I'm giving Leffler 2 stars only because I've never had any issues with their services, otherwise it would be 1 star. -

2 months agoVery predatory and won't work with you. If you have an emergency expect them to literally tell you they do not care about your health and safety only money. I've ran out of oil on auto delivery at least 3 times and they always try to charge me 200$ or tell me to wait 5 to 7 days because they didn't estimate correctly. Keep in mind they charge 25% more for the auto delivery. Will be switching to a competitor that's less incompetent. Someone needs to look at suing them. I would be on board with it. -

3 months agoThey average about $1 more than their competitors and though they claim to be a full 24/7 service, according to the reviews, they don't even do a good job at that. -

3 months agoWe were with Leffler for heating oil for two years and just closed our account. Each time a delivery was made, one driver had a snappy, negative attitude and the other was inappropriate with me at his last delivery, leaving his personal cell phone number on the receipt and asked me to call him... after what I thought was a nice conversation about our spouses and children. Aside from the unprofessional drivers, the prices are consistently higher and change more drastically than any other fuel/energy company that delivers in this area, which is not justified by how limited the flexibility of account management is for the consumer. Other local companies are not only consistently and remarkably cheaper, but also allow you to schedule services online or on the phone with exact amounts, dates, and transparent pricing. Leffler told me they do not offer at-will deliveries-automatic only- until I mentioned I might close the account. So then our account was noted as an at-will status, but they didn't cancel the automatic delivery schedule. They attempted delivery a week later, without notice, on a Sunday at 9am. Automatic fill notices are to be communicated before the delivery window, as stated by them, and this was only done for us twice in two years. Finally, customer service- corporate and local- needs to be more reliable in making contact when promised rather than only when seeking payment for invoices due. I recently requested an emergency fill as we almost ran out of oil. And since I was no longer technically on automatic fills, they said an emergency drop would cost me an additional $299. Still, two different customer service reps said they couldn't get ahold of dispatch after several attempts to see if an emergency delivery could even be made but one CS rep said, "they might be in around 10am if you want to call back then" and the other said, "I'll call you back with updates." They did not. How does this reinforce their 24/7 reliability standard? Two days later, Leffler made an attempt for a full tank fill- without notice. The driver caught an attitude with me as I told him we didn't request this delivery. He said, "Well someone did," threw his hands in the air and complained that no one told him otherwise. I apologized to him and explained that I know it's not his fault and it's a busy time of year, thanked him anyway and said I would call Leffler to figure it out. The only positive and productive interaction I have had with this company was the representative, Jenna helping me close the account. She was polite, informative and respected our situation. And not to discredit her professionalism, but her effort would not be considered going above and beyond- it is the standard of good customer service. Leffler, please do better to extend Jenna's level of service from the start and throughout your organization, and commit to maintaining it. We changed providers to Manor Fuels -

3 months agoI just received my oil delivery today and noticed that I was charged $4.45 a gallon for 199 gallons coming to $887; when last month I was charged $3.59 per gallon for 158 gallons coming to $557. So it is not the amount of gallons delivered. The price of oil has decreased over the last 3 weeks and to charge nearly .90 more for a loyal customer for the last 2.5 years is disrespectful, disappointing, and I would say dishonest. I see by the reviews posted here I am not the only one. I feel I will be treated like Joe when I call customer service tomorrow. If they cannot correct this to a competive offer with other companies I will be canceling my service with them. However, if they do make this right I will come back here and change my comments and ratings. My advice is that prior to deliveries you let customer know the approximate price per gallon before delivery. I would not pull up to the gas pump and get gas from a pump if the price was not listed. If this is price gouging then this is illegal as well. I hope to have some resolution tomorrow. Dennis W.

FAQ
How does Leffler Energy determine pricing for heating oil deliveries and HVAC services?
We base pricing on current market rates for heating oil, the volume delivered, and any applicable service fees for on-site fixes. For HVAC maintenance or repairs like cleaning soot buildup in boilers, we provide custom quotes after assessing your specific system needs during a service call. This approach ensures costs align with the work required to keep radiators quiet and systems running smoothly.
Are you licensed and insured for HVAC work?
Leffler Energy carries all necessary licensing, bonding, and insurance required for HVAC contracting and heating oil services in Lancaster, PA. Our coverage includes general liability and workers' compensation to protect homeowners from potential issues during service calls or installations. Technicians handle tasks like boiler cleanings and new installations in compliance with local standards.
Does Leffler Energy handle cleaning noisy radiators and boiler maintenance?
We manage routine service calls to address noisy radiators by inspecting and fixing underlying issues such as air pockets or valve problems. Our team also performs maintenance on boilers and furnaces, including cleaning soot buildup in combustion chambers and heat exchangers to restore efficiency. For more extensive needs, we install new boilers and water heaters with proper copper piping setups tailored to your home.
What should I expect for scheduling and arrival times with you?
We schedule heating oil deliveries and service calls based on your tank levels and availability, offering flexible windows to fit homeowner routines. Drivers arrive within agreed time frames for routine fill-ups or on-site HVAC fixes, coordinating directly with you for any adjustments. Expect clear communication on expected timelines to minimize disruptions.
Does Leffler Energy clean up after HVAC service or installations?
We leave your home as we found it by using drop cloths and shoe covers during service calls and removing all debris like soot or old parts afterward. After boiler cleanings or new installations, our team hauls away waste materials responsibly. This ensures your space stays tidy post-service.
Why is your professional approach better than trying DIY HVAC fixes?
Our hands-on experience allows us to diagnose issues like soot accumulation or radiator noise accurately, avoiding common DIY errors that can damage systems further. Professionals follow proper safety protocols for handling heating oil systems and boilers, reducing risks of leaks or inefficient operation. Technicians explain parts and maintenance steps, empowering you with knowledge while ensuring long-term reliability over trial-and-error methods.
