5 years agoWe had them come out a several months ago to put in a new panel and run some wire for our new dishwasher. The lady was here pretty much all day. Fast forward to Christmas break and my husband was going to add an outlet in our basement. He went to pop out a hole in the panel so the outlet could be on its own circuit, since it was going to have 2 freezers hooked to it. Sparks started coming out of the box and out lights started flickering and popping. Come to find out the lady that did the work didn't put a negative wire back and it was loose in the box. Awesome fire hazard! A few weeks ago we asked them to come and move the dryer plug from the ceiling to the wall. The guy then tells me the lady put our dryer on a 20 amp instead of a 30amp. Fire hazard again! The dryer could of over heated the cord and caused it to melt and start a fire. He also found the lady put our AC on a 30 amp and it's suppose to be on a 20. So if something would of happened to the AC and it was pulling to much power our breaker wouldn't switch off. We called and complained that day. The owner was suppose to call us back and never did. We called again today and are waiting for a call back. So we'll see if that happens. I question if she messed up anything else. Hopefully nothing will start a fire and I loose my income since I work from home. -

FAQ
How does Burlington Electric determine pricing for electrical work?
We provide detailed estimates before any work begins so you know exactly what to expect with no hidden surprises. Our pricing depends on the type and complexity of the job-whether it's a quick fix, a panel upgrade, new wiring runs, or appliance hookups. We break down the scope of work clearly, so you understand what's included and can make an informed decision about your electrical project.
Are you licensed and insured?
Burlington Electric operates with the proper licensing and insurance required to handle residential electrical work safely and professionally. When hiring an electrician, it's important to verify these credentials upfront, as they protect both you and your home. We're happy to provide documentation of our qualifications when you contact us for a quote.
Does Burlington Electric handle panel upgrades and new appliance hookups?
Yes, panel upgrades and appliance hookups are core services we provide. Whether you're upgrading your electrical panel to handle increased demand, running new wiring for a dishwasher, or connecting other major appliances, our team has hands-on experience with these jobs. We approach each project with attention to detail and make sure everything meets current electrical codes.
What should I expect in terms of scheduling and how long will the work take?
Burlington Electric schedules full-day jobs and quick fixes based on your needs, and our team shows up early and ready to work. The timeline depends on the scope of your project-a simple appliance hookup may take a few hours, while a panel upgrade and new wiring runs could take most of a day. When you get your estimate, we'll give you a clear timeframe so you can plan accordingly.
How does Burlington Electric handle cleanup after electrical work is completed?
We take care of the work site professionally, leaving your home clean and organized once the job is finished. Our team removes debris and waste from the electrical work, so you don't have to worry about cleanup. We understand that having work done in your home is an inconvenience, so we make sure the final result is a space you're happy with.
Why should I hire a professional electrician instead of doing electrical work myself?
Electrical work involves serious safety risks if done incorrectly-improper wiring can lead to shocks, fires, or system failures that put your family and home at risk. Professional electricians have the training and tools to diagnose problems accurately and ensure all work meets current electrical codes. Hiring a licensed electrician also protects you legally and gives you peace of mind that the job is done right the first time.
