Added one outlet in a closet. Approx. 30 minutes of labor and acording to the owner 40 dollars in materials. To the electricians credit he didnt bid the job rather he was hired by ADT. That said ADT informed me that he was kicked off the job. Either way I can not imagine anyone charging 600-700 dollars per hour for any service. As for the quality of work I can not yet comment on as the job was just done today. This review is a reflection on price and professionalism only.

FAQ

How does Steve Thomson Electric determine pricing for electrical work?

We provide custom quotes based on the specific scope of your project, including labor time, materials needed, and any special considerations for your home or business. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all rate, we assess what's actually involved-whether it's a simple outlet installation or complex wiring repairs-so you understand exactly what you're paying for before work begins. This transparent approach helps you make informed decisions about your electrical needs.

Are you licensed and insured?

Steve Thomson Electric operates with the proper credentials and insurance coverage required to perform electrical work safely and legally. Licensing ensures our team has the education and training to handle installations, repairs, and troubleshooting according to code standards, while insurance protects you and your property throughout the job. Always verify these credentials with any electrician before hiring to ensure your work meets local requirements.

Does Steve Thomson Electric handle conduit installation and rough-in work for new construction?

We specialize in electrical conduit installation and rough-in work on construction projects, as shown in our portfolio of commercial and residential builds. Our hands-on experience includes planning conduit layouts, making precise bends, and coordinating with other trades during the construction phase. Whether you're building new or expanding an existing system, we handle the foundational electrical infrastructure that keeps everything running safely.

What should I expect regarding scheduling and how quickly can you respond to electrical issues?

Steve Thomson Electric works with homeowners to schedule appointments that fit your timeline, whether for routine maintenance or urgent repairs. When you contact us, we'll discuss availability and provide realistic expectations for when our team can arrive and complete the work. For emergency situations like burning smells, sparking outlets, or power failures, prompt response is critical to prevent safety hazards and property damage.

What does Steve Thomson Electric do with debris and how will my home be left after the work is finished?

We treat your home with respect during every job, managing materials and waste responsibly throughout the installation or repair process. Our team focuses on leaving your space clean and organized once the electrical work is complete, whether we've been installing new fixtures, running wiring, or performing safety inspections. Clear communication about any wall access or temporary disruptions happens upfront so you're prepared for the work ahead.

Why is hiring a professional electrician safer than attempting electrical work yourself?

Electrical work involves serious safety risks-improper installation can cause fires, shocks, or system failures that put your family and property in danger. Licensed electricians have training to work with high-voltage systems safely, understand local electrical codes, and use proper tools and techniques to prevent accidents. Additionally, professional work is typically permitted and inspected by local authorities, giving you the assurance that your electrical system meets safety standards and won't create hidden hazards down the road.
