13 years ago$560 Friday we noticed our ac was not cooling the house. I thought oh no it's friday and no one will be able to come out till monday. I thought I would try anyway. We called Air Mechanics and told them what was happening. Low and behold when the receptionist said someone would be out this afternoon I was so excited. Ken came out and instantly knew what the problem was. He was very thorough and explained everything along with an estimate. We were very pleased with the service and Ken was very professional. We will continue to use Air Mechanics for all our heating and ac needs. -

16 years agoFriday evening I came in from work and my air conditioning was not working. I called Air Mechanics and set up an appointment for Saturday morning. Ken showed up bright and early and after checking for power, etc., figured out that the capacitor had blown. He pulled it out and showed me where it had swollen. He replaced the capacitor with one on his truck and my air conditioning is back up and running. At my request, he continued to do his annual checkup on my unit(s). He determined that my old blower, which is under the house, needed a new belt...and I already knew this from seeing the condition of the belt when I replaced the filter, so he will bring that back by on Tuesday. It will not effect anything until then.In addition to this particular service call, they installed a new unit on my last house and that unit which was 20 years old passed inspection with flying colors when I sold my house. They also ran some ductwork under the house where the Terminex guys had knocked it loose from the vents when I was getting ready to sell my last house. I cannot say enough good things about Rick Huggins, the owner, and his main air conditioning mechanic, Ken. They are honest, straightforward and will keep your old unit running until it's time for a new one. The old unit I have in my house now is probably close to 40 years old and when it dies, I will have this company put in my new one. I know it will be soon. I have been servicing my unit and my mom's unit for over 20 years. Air Mechanics has kept both of our units up and running. After every visit I've ever had with Ken or Rick I feel as though I've gotten an honest appraisal and a good repair or maintenance for a good value. This company takes pride in their work and it shows. -

17 years agoI have been using them for years and I have been satisfied with them. A few years ago I had a problem with my air conditioning unit and a company came and said that I needed a new one. However Air Mechanics found that there was some issue only with the coil. They were less expensive. They have also installed a new air conditioning for me and replaced a compressor. There was an emergency and they did get back to me, but there were some other things that I wanted to discuss and they haven't got back to me on that. I have also not followed up with them. I would use them again in future.

FAQ
How does Air Mechanics, LLC determine pricing for HVAC services?
We provide detailed written estimates that break down all costs before any work begins. Our quotes include labor, equipment with model numbers, parts, permits if applicable, and any additional services like thermostat setup or duct modifications. This transparency lets you understand exactly what you're paying for and compare our proposal against other contractors. We're happy to walk you through each line item and answer questions about the pricing.
Are you licensed, insured, and certified to work on HVAC systems?
Air Mechanics, LLC maintains the licensing, bonding, and insurance required to perform HVAC work safely and professionally. Our technicians carry EPA 608 certification for refrigerant handling, which is required nationwide. We can provide proof of our credentials and insurance coverage upon request, and we're familiar with all local permitting requirements and inspection standards in the Greensboro area.
Does Air Mechanics, LLC handle duct sealing and airflow optimization?
Yes, duct evaluation and sealing are core services we provide. We conduct duct leakage tests and measure static pressure to identify restrictions, leaks, or design problems that reduce system performance. Our technicians inspect for kinked runs, undersized sections, and poor transitions, then propose modifications to meet manufacturer specifications. Proper ductwork ensures your equipment operates efficiently and maintains consistent comfort throughout your home.
What should I expect for scheduling and how quickly can you arrive?
Air Mechanics, LLC works with your schedule to arrange convenient appointment times, including emergency Saturday service when needed. We communicate clearly about expected arrival windows so you're not left waiting. Our team arrives prepared with the tools and equipment needed for your specific service, whether it's a routine maintenance visit, repair, or new installation. We'll also walk you through the timeline for larger projects like equipment replacement or system upgrades.
How does Air Mechanics, LLC protect my home during service and installation work?
We treat your home with respect during every visit. Our technicians use drop cloths and protective coverings to contain debris, maintain cleanliness throughout the work area, and properly dispose of old equipment or materials. After installation or major repairs, we test system performance to verify everything is working correctly and walk you through operation and maintenance. Your home is left clean and ready to use immediately after we finish.
Why should I hire a professional instead of attempting HVAC work myself?
HVAC systems require specialized knowledge, tools, and certifications that go beyond DIY capability. Improper installation or repair can reduce efficiency, shorten equipment lifespan, void warranties, and create safety hazards with electrical connections and refrigerant handling. We perform load calculations to size equipment correctly for your home's square footage, insulation, and sun exposure, and we verify proper refrigerant charge and airflow using manufacturer specifications. Professional installation protects your investment and ensures your system delivers comfort and efficiency for years.
