Justin came to our house and gave us excellent service! It started out with a Saturday service call when our AC was completely out upstairs and they came out in less than an hour! He came in and did a quick diagnosis and didn't try and sell us anything we didnt need. Highly recommend Deckard and Justin!

My experience with Deckard Heating and Cooling was markedly unsatisfactory and raises significant concerns regarding the company's diagnostic accuracy, professional conduct, and adherence to basic standards of customer service. Following an incorrect diagnosis issued by one of the company's technicians, I promptly notified the owner, Mr. Dan, and provided clear information demonstrating that the assessment was erroneous. Mr. Dan expressly stated that the matter would be addressed without delay and that the diagnostic fee would be refunded. Despite this assurance, no refund was ever issued, compelling me to initiate a formal dispute through my financial institution in order to recover the funds. While the company initially presented itself in a professional manner, its conduct changed notably once responsibility for the misdiagnosis became evident. Communication ceased, and the company disengaged from the matter entirely. As a result, I was required to obtain a second opinion from another licensed HVAC provider. Their technician identified the actual issue within minutes: a defective thermostat, not a furnace motherboard as previously claimed. I do not typically submit negative reviews; however, the combination of an inaccurate diagnosis, failure to honor a stated commitment, and lack of accountability created a situation in which documenting my experience became necessary. This is particularly concerning given that the incident occurred during a period of cold weather, when timely and accurate service is essential for customer safety and well-being. It is my expectation that Deckard Heating and Cooling will review this matter internally and take the appropriate steps to improve diagnostic procedures, communication practices, and overall customer service. Doing so would help ensure that future clients receive the level of professionalism and reliability that should be standard within the HVAC industry.

My wife and I have been working with Deckard for years. He's replaced both our HVAC systems. The downstairs one he recently sold us was a challenge, but Dan worked day and night to get it working to HIS standards, and his are very high. That's why he's the BEST! He'll be down in your crawlspace well past nightfall to get the job done. I can't say enough good things to describe Dan and his team. We will use them as long as we live in Charlotte and he stays open for business.

FAQ

How does Dan Deckard Hvac determine pricing, and do you offer free estimates?

We provide detailed written estimates that break down all costs before any work begins, including labor, equipment with model numbers, permits, and materials. This transparency helps you understand exactly what you're paying for and prevents surprise charges later. We recommend getting estimates from multiple contractors so you can compare scope and pricing fairly.

Are you licensed, insured, and certified to work on HVAC systems?

Dan Deckard Hvac maintains the licensing, bonding, and insurance required to operate in North Carolina, including EPA 608 certification for handling refrigerant. We carry workers' compensation and general liability insurance to protect you from liability if property damage or other issues occur during service. You can request proof of our credentials and insurance coverage before we begin any work.

What specific HVAC services does Dan Deckard Hvac handle?

We handle urgent AC repairs, heat pump installations, air handler replacements, and full system replacements for both heating and cooling. Whether you need emergency weekend service or a complete system overhaul, our technicians are equipped to diagnose and fix the problem. We focus on determining what your system actually needs rather than recommending unnecessary upgrades.

What should I expect for scheduling and arrival times?

Dan Deckard Hvac responds to emergency calls on weekends and weekdays, with technicians arriving in under an hour for urgent AC outages. For routine service and installations, we work with you to schedule at your convenience and communicate clearly about timing. Our team prioritizes punctuality and will keep you informed if any delays occur.

How does Dan Deckard Hvac handle cleanup and protect my home during installation?

We treat your home with respect during every job, using drop cloths and protective coverings to contain debris and minimize disruption. After installation or repair work, we clean up thoroughly and dispose of old equipment and materials properly. Our technicians will walk you through your new system's operation and maintenance requirements before we leave.

Why should I hire a professional instead of attempting HVAC work myself?

HVAC systems require specialized knowledge, tools, and certifications that DIY work cannot replicate safely. Improper installation or repair can reduce efficiency, shorten equipment life, void warranties, and create safety hazards like incorrect refrigerant charge or electrical issues. We conduct load calculations, inspect ductwork and airflow, verify proper charge levels, and test system performance to ensure everything operates at peak efficiency.
