5 years agoCarl's Hearth Service fixed a problem that 2 other estimates missed...he fixed an existing issue that we wouldn't have figured out and rebuilt a 100 year Catskills chimney- on time, with wonderful craftsmanship. Fantastic back office help- every call was responded to promptly and professionally. He was on time, on budget, and works harder than anyone I've seen in a long time. He's worth the wait. He will show up, and do an even better job than you expect. A refreshing change. Thank you Carl. 6 years agoIn November of 2017, I hired Carl's Hearth Services to install a propane fireplace insert and build a surround and mantel of barn wood. He completed the work within two weeks, very hurriedly towards the end as he had other obligations approaching. It looked beautiful when completed but I was unaware of the shoddy work done. I recently came home to a freezing house and discovered items that had been on the top of the fireplace strewn about the floor, some melted. The top of the fireplace had collapsed into the propane unit. On inspection by another professional, he found that the 'logs' in the unit had been positioned wrong, too close to the flame, causing inefficiency and blackening of the logs. The 2X4s used to build the frame for the surround were held together with a minimal amount of screws, one board free floating, thus causing the collapse. This incident has cost me $600.00 in repairs. Worst case scenario, a fire may have ensued causing me the entire house and contents. I want others to know of my experience and be aware. I find it hard to believe that this man has a bona fide 5 star rating. Let the buyer beware! -

When I was told I needed a chimney cap to satisfy the FHA appraiser assigned to the sale of my home, I Googled, of course, to find the one with the best reviews. I needed someone responsive, reliable, and experienced. Every review I saw about Carl's was so positive, I called them first. It was after hours and I did not expect a call until the next morning, especially since I noted it was not an emergency. To my surprise, I received a call late that same evening from the friendliest woman on the planet, and she gave me all the information I needed and set me up with an appointment for a free estimate right away. I would not hesitate to reach out to Carl's for any related service in the future, based on my positive experience. Thank you, Carl's! -
