2 months agoDon't get ripped off like I did! This company has zero integrity. They charged us $45k to replace our HVAC system and recommended a product that doesn't meet our #1 need (which we explicitly laid out for them in all of our interactions leading up to the install). When we asked them to come back and make it work correctly they said they'd be happy to - for an additional $7500. What?? And when I asked for the owner to follow up and stand behind his work, he ghosted me. That's the kind of company this is. I had another AC company out who let me know that Number One could easily have chosen a system with remote sensing capabilities, and we'd have been fine. But they didn't, which means that either they are incompetent or don't care about their customers, or both. Either way, this is not a company you should work with. Their own Service Tech told me that he pushed back on the owner and told him that this was the wrong system for us, but the owner told him to keep quiet and just get the thing installed. Infuriating - now we are stuck with this hunk of junk for years and it doesn't even heat or cool the house properly. -

2 months agoCalled number 1 over for a free estimate on a clogged sink that was beyond my scope. Nathan was quick with the estimate and able to clear the clog on the spot. He was nice, knowledgeable, thorough, quick, and cleaned up well. Service was a little pricey, but it was last minute, and such is the state of things. 10/10 recommend. -

FAQ
How does Number 1 Plumber determine pricing for HVAC replacement?
We provide free estimates for all HVAC replacement jobs, so you can understand costs before committing to any work. Our pricing reflects the equipment model, installation labor, permits, materials, and any additional services like thermostat setup or ductwork evaluation. We break down each line item in our written estimate so there are no surprises when the final bill arrives. Transparency in pricing is part of our commitment to clear communication with every customer.
Are you licensed and insured to perform HVAC work?
Number 1 Plumber maintains the proper licensing and insurance required to handle HVAC installations and repairs safely and legally. We carry workers' compensation and general liability coverage to protect both our team and your home during the work. Our technicians are trained to follow local permitting requirements and inspection standards specific to Albuquerque and the surrounding areas.
Does Number 1 Plumber handle both residential HVAC replacements and commercial rooftop units?
We handle HVAC replacements for residential properties, and our team has experience with commercial equipment installation as well. Whether you need a standard residential system or a larger commercial rooftop unit, we assess your specific needs and recommend equipment that fits your home's layout, insulation, and climate requirements. Our technicians evaluate your entire system-including ductwork, electrical components, and airflow-to ensure the right fit for your property.
What should I expect for installation timeline and on-site logistics?
Number 1 Plumber provides a clear timeline from your free estimate through installation completion so you can plan accordingly. Our team protects your home during the work by using drop cloths and maintaining a clean workspace. We handle system testing at completion to verify proper airflow, refrigerant charge, and performance before we leave, and we walk you through operation and warranty registration so you understand how to maintain your new system.
How does Number 1 Plumber handle debris and cleanup after HVAC installation?
We take responsibility for cleaning up after the job is complete, including disposal of old equipment and installation materials. Our team ensures your home is left in good condition with minimal disruption to your daily routine. Proper cleanup and site restoration are part of our standard installation process, so you don't have to worry about managing waste or debris yourself.
Why should I hire a professional for HVAC replacement instead of attempting it myself?
HVAC installation requires specialized knowledge in load calculations, refrigerant handling, electrical connections, and ductwork design-mistakes can reduce efficiency, shorten equipment life, and create safety hazards. We perform a proper Manual J load calculation to size equipment correctly for your home's square footage, insulation, windows, and local climate, which DIY approaches often skip. Professional installation also ensures compliance with manufacturer specifications and local codes, protects your warranty coverage, and includes performance testing to verify the system operates safely and efficiently.
