I have never written a negative review.. but this one calls for it. This was truly one of the owrst experiences I have ever had with a vendor. I had this company do a large eletrical job at my property 2 years ago where they redid some eletrical boxes on a property we were purchasing. I was having issues in our small (800 sq ft) ADU with the eletrcial out in half of the home. The breaker was not tripped. I called them because they have record of our home's eletric. They came to the home and later that day when our tenant arrived back, the problem persisted. I received an invoice the next day for over 400.00 for 3 hours of labor with 2 guys. They said they switched the breaker, but couldnt find the breaker box (that they put on our house 2 years previous).. so it took them 3 hours to find the box on an 800 sq. ft house. I called them explaining that the problem was not addressed, and that I would pay the invoice in full if we could address the issue. The admin ladies were so rude to me. They spoke over me, would not let me explain, or negotiate and said that they would charge me the same amount to return. So I proceeded to ask if we could negotiate the invoice as the work was not completed and they should have review their records on our house or called me if they could not find the box... She proceeded to say if I dont pay they will take me to collections and that there is no negotiating. I even told them I would pay for transportation and an hour of time, SHE REFUSED, still threatening to take us to collections. I paid my invoice because o fher threats and have now resorted to writing my experience. I DO NOT recommend working with this company..

The project was completed in a timely manner. There was dust and insulation from the installation of the canned lights but that was cleaned up at the end of the project. The permit was obtained by the company and the electrician arranged for and was present during the inspection. The final cost was very close to the original estimate.

FAQ

How does Hometown Electric determine pricing for electrical work?

We provide custom quotes based on the scope of your project after a thorough assessment. During an initial consultation, our team evaluates the complexity of the work, materials needed, and labor involved to give you a transparent breakdown of costs. This upfront approach means no surprises when the job is complete, and you'll understand exactly what you're paying for before we begin.

Are you licensed and insured?

Hometown Electric maintains the proper licensing and insurance required to perform electrical work safely and legally. This protects both you and our team, and ensures that all work meets local codes and standards. When hiring an electrician, verifying licensing and insurance is essential-it's one of the best ways to confirm you're working with a qualified professional.

Does Hometown Electric handle specialized electrical projects like hot tub hookups and motor controls?

Yes, we handle a wide range of specialized projects beyond standard residential work. Our experience includes hot tub installations, motor controls, fueling station work, and commercial installations. Whether your project is straightforward or requires specialized expertise, our team has the knowledge and tools to complete it safely and to code.

What should I expect in terms of timeline and scheduling?

Hometown Electric works with you to schedule appointments that fit your needs and completes projects in a timely manner. The duration depends on the complexity of your electrical work-a simple repair might take a few hours, while a full rewire or service upgrade could take several days. We'll provide a realistic timeline during your initial consultation so you can plan accordingly.

How does Hometown Electric handle cleanup after electrical work is completed?

We clean up after ourselves to leave your home in good condition. Whether we're installing canned lights, running new wiring, or performing other electrical work, we remove dust, debris, and materials generated during the project. A clean work site is part of our commitment to professional service.

Why is it better to hire a professional electrician instead of doing electrical work myself?

Electrical work involves serious safety risks if not done properly, including the potential for electrocution and fire hazards. Licensed electricians have specialized training to diagnose issues accurately, ensure work meets local electrical codes, and use proper techniques and equipment. Attempting DIY electrical repairs can void warranties, create liability issues, and put your home and family at risk-professional installation and repair provide peace of mind and long-term safety.
