3 months agoSitting in the truck blocking access to our business playing on his phone. How wonderful. Asked if he could move and response was "when I'm done" To add they are at it again blocking the parking yet again! What useless place just move your stuff over to the side so business owners can access their business. -

4 months agoDude parks in front of my house, which is fine. After 10 minutes, I come out and ask him if there's anything I can help him with. I'm just wondering why he's here, since I don't have any utility work scheduled. He just tells me to have a good day, rolls his window up, and then sits there for 5 more minutes playing on his phone before leaving, after having done nothing. I wouldn't have even cared if he had just told me why he was here or offered to move. Instead, he was rude and dismissive. -

6 months agoThey used a camera to locate my sewer. When pulling it out the tore off my backflow flap and dragged it about 10 ft uphill toward my house. At first I thought I just had a slow drain but a couple weeks in had to call Roto Rooter. They checked my basement commode and said there wasn't anything wrong. I told him about the locator being in my sewer line a few weeks ago. He went outside and opened my clean out and saw standing water. He went to the next clean out with the backflow flap and said the flap is gone. He ran his rooter uphill toward my house and about half way to the house felt something . He proceeded to pull the flap back to the box it had previously hung in....now we have a flap covered in toilet paper and "other crap" (literally) 10 feet down in the ground..took 1 1/2 hours to fish it out with a large shop vac. They want me to produce a video to show that there was no damage previously! They went in originally with a camera but "unfortunately" were unable to get a video. My opinion is they probably had a video showing their locator tear up my flap. I also think because I am a woman they want convince me the flap came off floated uphill toward my house! Unreputable company! I am just out the Roto Rooter bill. If you see them in your yard you need to go out and video what they are doing! -

FAQ
How does Northern Lights Locating & Inspection determine pricing for utility locating services?
We provide custom quotes based on the size and complexity of your project. Pricing depends on factors like the area to be scanned, the type of utilities involved, and whether you need sewer line locating, drainage inspection, or additional services. Contact us with details about your property and we'll assess your needs and provide a transparent estimate before any work begins.
Are you licensed and insured for this work?
Northern Lights Locating & Inspection maintains the proper credentials and insurance coverage required to perform utility locating and inspection services safely and legally. We recommend verifying current licensing details by contacting us directly or visiting our website at nllocating.com to confirm our credentials meet your local requirements.
Can Northern Lights Locating & Inspection locate both public and private utilities on my property?
We specialize in locating and marking utilities using camera technology and other professional equipment. While public utilities are typically marked through 811 calls, we can locate private utilities like sewer lines, drainage systems, and other subsurface features that won't be marked by the public utility locating service. This gives you a complete picture of what's underground before any excavation work.
How quickly can you schedule an appointment and what should I expect on service day?
Northern Lights Locating & Inspection works to accommodate your timeline and can often schedule appointments promptly. When we arrive, our technician will assess your property to determine the best approach for locating your utilities. We'll use specialized camera equipment to pinpoint sewer lines and other underground features, and the process typically takes a few hours depending on your property size and the scope of work needed.
What does Northern Lights Locating & Inspection do with the area after locating utilities?
We mark the locations of utilities clearly so you have a visual reference for any future digging or construction work. Our team takes care to minimize disruption to your property during the locating process. We'll leave your property in good condition and provide you with documentation of what we found so you have a record for your records or to share with contractors.
Why should I hire a professional instead of attempting utility locating myself?
Professional utility locating prevents costly and dangerous mistakes that DIY attempts can cause. We use specialized camera equipment and trained expertise to accurately identify sewer lines, drainage systems, and other buried utilities without guesswork. Hitting a utility line during excavation can result in expensive repairs, service interruptions, or safety hazards-investing in professional locating upfront saves you from much bigger headaches and expenses down the road.
