10 years agoWe cannot imagine having gone through the process of a whole-house renovation with anyone other than Kevin Cradock Builders. Kevin took our diamond-in-the-rough 1800s Georgian Colonial, brought it back to life, and made it our dream home. From the earliest stages of planning to the very last touches, Kevin and his team were, professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Renovations are usually very stressful, but working with Kevin meant that we never questioned our decision to bring a very old house back to life. Kevin himself is incredibly hands-on, and his efficient communication can't be beat. He answered every concern and question, whether big or small, clearly, concisely, promptly, and with the highest level of experience and expertise. Though we know he has a large shop and oversees many large projects, the level of attention we received made us feel like his only client. Kevin is the most honest GC you'll ever meet. With contractors we've dealt with in the past, we'd often receive many change orders and end up paying much more than anticipated. Kevin is the opposite and I can site a couple specific examples. Mid-way into our renovation, we decided to add a jack and jill bathroom at the last possible minute. We asked Kevin for a ballpark estimate on what it would be to add it on. He gave us a price and we informed him to move ahead and build it. A couple days later he emailed us with more precise numbers and said it would cost about 25% less than what he quoted us. Another time, we met with Kevin for a meeting and he mentioned that our heating estimates came in below budget, so instead of having electric baseboard heat in our basement in-law suite, he was going to upgrade it to forced air by gas. Kevin never makes promises he can't keep and consistently over-delivers. Kevin's building knowledge is vast. There is no situation that Kevin has not seen before, and his deep understanding of architectural and renovation styles and trends meant that he knew exactly what to do in each situation we encountered. So many times throughout the process, we simply asked Kevin what he would recommend doing and moved forward, and we were never disappointed with the outcome. We met with him and Susan, the designer, each week, so there were never any surprises about timing or cost, and we always had a very clear idea of when he needed us to make decisions by so as not to slow down the project. Kevin and Susan were always maintaining detailed spreadsheets of any decision / purchase (i.e. plumbing, lighting, paint colors, etc.) we were making which made the process stress-free and organized. Kevin runs an incredibly organized operation. Even at the height of the renovation, the work site was always immaculate at the end of the day. His entire team, from the carpenters, to our amazing foreman, Jon, as well as the sub-contractors, could not have been more friendly and a pleasure to have working on our home. Kevin respected our budget and at the same time built a gorgeous house with everything we had ever wanted in a home. You can really see that Kevin is a carpenter at heart in every detail of our home. He built us custom built-in bookshelves in the living room flanking our fireplace, a beautiful media wall in the family room, custom inset cabinetry, wainscoting, and a mahogany island which matched floating shelves in the kitchen. Each element built was simple and perfect. He made sure he knew just the look we wanted, and then delivered it in the most beautiful way. Kevin saw the potential in this beautiful old house, and truly brought it back to life. We cannot imagine having gone through this process with any other team. We are now clients for life, and enthusiastically recommend him at any chance we get.

FAQ
Does Kevin Cradock Builders offer free estimates for handyman services?
We provide free estimates after reviewing your project details and scope. This allows us to assess the work needed for custom millwork, cabinetry, or renovations and give you a clear quote. Contact us to schedule a visit to your Boston home.
Are you licensed and insured for handyman work?
Kevin Cradock Builders carries full licensing and insurance to cover all handyman tasks and renovations. Our coverage protects your property during projects like flooring installation or bathroom updates. Homeowners can request proof of our credentials before starting any job.
Does Kevin Cradock Builders handle custom millwork, cabinetry, and bathroom renovations?
We specialize in custom millwork, cabinetry, and full bathroom renovations, including double vanities, marble countertops, and walk-in showers with subway tiles. Our carpenter's precision ensures these elements fit perfectly in classic Boston homes. Photos of our completed projects show detailed door trim, wallpaper, and brass hardware installations.
What is your typical timeline and arrival window for projects?
We set clear timelines based on project size, from quick handyman fixes to full home renovations, often completing work within the agreed schedule. Our team arrives at the scheduled window, coordinating directly with you to minimize disruptions. For larger renovations like those in 1800s Georgians, we break projects into phases for steady progress.
How does Kevin Cradock Builders handle cleanup and debris after a job?
We remove all waste and debris from your property at the end of each workday, leaving your home clean and tidy. This includes sweeping up from flooring or trim installations and hauling away materials from cabinetry or bathroom work. Your space stays protected throughout the process with our hands-on approach.
Why is hiring you better than doing handyman tasks as DIY?
Our professional approach blends historic details with modern updates using tools and skills honed in a local workshop, avoiding common DIY errors like mismatched millwork or improper tile installation. We ensure structural integrity in older Boston homes that amateurs might overlook, saving you time and costly fixes. Precision carpentry delivers lasting results without the safety risks of inexperienced work.
