I'm not sure I would use them again. They replaced a part in an AC unit and charged me $90 for the part, plus labor. The same part costs $15 at Home Depot or on Amazon. It doesn't seem like an honest mark up. Also, they told me that R22 freon refrigerant goes for $250 per pound "in the area." Per Angi's article as of mid-2023, R-22 refrigerant prices range from $50 to $80 per pound, though I found other sources quoting it at $150 per pound. If this is honest and trustworthy--judge for yourself.

. Great customer service. Our furnace dates to the 1980s - they service it and tell us they'll let us know when they think we need to replace it. Candid advice, no sales pressure. Punctual and professional.

. It is something that helps the thermostat communicate with the furnace to tell when to turn on and when to turn off. That switch was malfunctioning, so it wouldn't turn off, it would just keep running and running. Eventually I found that if I hit the furnace at just the right place, it would make it shut off. So they replaced that switch for me. They came and opened the system up and looked at it and they confirmed that the problem was that switch and then they had to order a new one and then they came back a couple of days later to install the new switch.

FAQ

How does Eli's Heating & Air Conditioning determine pricing for HVAC repairs and installations?

We base pricing on the specific parts needed, labor required for the job, and any additional materials like ductwork modifications. Parts are sourced at standard industry rates to ensure fair value, covering both the cost and handling. Customers receive a detailed breakdown upfront to understand exactly what they're paying for.

Do you offer free estimates for HVAC services?

We provide free estimates to assess your heating, cooling, or ductwork needs before any work begins. This allows us to inspect the system thoroughly and give you an accurate quote without obligation. Estimates cover full setups, repairs, or service calls to help you plan effectively.

Is Eli's Heating & Air Conditioning licensed and insured for HVAC work?

We maintain proper licensing and insurance to meet all local requirements in Rockville, MD, for safe and compliant HVAC services. Our team handles refrigerant properly with necessary certifications. This setup protects both your property and our technicians during installations, repairs, and duct work.

What specific HVAC tasks do you handle, like duct work or furnace servicing?

Eli's Heating & Air Conditioning specializes in duct work installations, full heating and cooling equipment setups, and ongoing service and repair work for systems like furnaces. We service older units, such as those from the 1980s, and address issues like malfunctioning switches that control furnace operation. Our scope keeps systems running smoothly through every season.

What should I expect for scheduling and arrival times with Eli's Heating & Air Conditioning?

We arrive punctually within agreed windows and communicate clearly about timelines for repairs, installations, or service calls. Expect candid updates on when you might need system replacements based on inspections, without rushed decisions. This approach helps you prepare without unexpected delays.

Why is hiring you for HVAC repairs safer and more effective than trying DIY fixes?

Professional repairs ensure proper diagnosis of issues like faulty switches or duct problems, avoiding risks such as electrical hazards or refrigerant mishandling that DIY attempts often cause. We use industry-standard methods to test airflow, static pressure, and components for long-term efficiency and safety. Homeowners gain peace of mind knowing the work meets code and prevents bigger failures down the line.
