1 year agoTHE WORST POOL COMPANY!!!! I WOULD GIVE THEM NEGATIVE STARS IF POSSIBLE!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!! AVOID THESE HACKS AT ALL COSTS!!!! I've had them doing my pool service for 8 months. They have done a terrible job. They hire kids that have NO knowledge of pools or how to service them. Their so called TECS have messed up my pool on numerous occasions, then they charge $195 for a "senior" Tec to come out and fix it. They replaced my salt cell and charged me $1600,,,, IT DID NOT NEED REPLACING!! They email you this pool report that "SAYS" they have been to your pool and "COMPLETELY" serviced it, and send you a bunch of worthless photos. But when I check my home security cameras, I see they were only there 2 minutes, just enough time to dump a few cups of acid in the pool, and to take a bunch of worthless photos!! They NEVER vacuumed my pool. When I would arrive at my home after being away, the first thing I wanted to do was jump in the pool, but on several occasions it was too dirty to swim in!!! I FINALLY FIRED them and hired "5 Star" pool service,,, oddly enough one of the "Pool Doctors" employees recommended them, and told me just how bad things were at "Pool Doctor" !!!!! I have a salt water pool, and they went months without adding any salt. I had to call them several times to finally talk with the so called "service manager" He gave me a "BS" story, but the Tec told me they were out of salt, and had been for quite sometime. I went to Lowe's and they had pallets of it!! The final event, was last week when one of their pool Tecs came to my pool and said the pool had no chlorine in it, and dumped in 2 1/2 gallons of chlorine. The pool was so over chlorinated that we couldn't even sit out in the lanai as the chlorine fumes coming off the pool were so bad!!! I called "5 Star" pool company, and spoke directly to Eric the owner. He was genuinely concerned about my pool and sent out one his VERY Knowledgeable tecs the next day. The pool was so bad, with every chemical reading way off, and several in the unhealthy range! They recommended that I not swim in the pool for a week or so to let the pool come back into a healthy range. They also vacuumed the pool, and they have their own filter system that puts all the debris in their filter, and not clogging my filter!! WAHT a difference with them!!! My new pool tec has been with them for 7 years and explained my whole system and how it should work, and what was wrong , and the mistakes that "Pool Doctor" made. Also, Eric the owner said he would also stop by my home the next day to check on everything and call me. WHAT A DIFFERENCE IN POOL COMPANIES!!! Do your self a favor,,, IF YOU USE POOL DOCTOR, FIRE THEM IMMEDIATELY!!!! DON'T BELIEVE ALL THEIR FALSE POSITIVE REVIEWS, MOST ARE FAKE!!!! THEY DON"T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!!! AND WILL BILL YOU FOR IT!!!! ALSO, "5 Star" pool company was $40 per month less$$$ -

4 years agoUnfortunately I cannot leave a positive review for Pool Doctor and their operations team. In April we contracted them to install a full salt water system, automated Pentair equipment and a new heating system on our house in Cape Coral. The offer and work was provide in a timely manner but that is where it stopped. The installation was performed with a low quality of work, the wiring and cleanliness of the install is sadly embarrassing at best. Upon seeing how poorly the install was done I requested that a technician come back to clean up the wiring and pick up all of the trash that was left in the yard. This was agreed but again the quality of the attempt to fix the mess was sub standard and the wiring needs to still to day be removed completely and be professionally redone. With the installation of around $10,000 I requested that new Pentair LED lighting be installed in the hot tub and pool. They guessed that 100 foot cables would be enough and got to work. They self admittedly cut the wires to our functioning old pool lights before looking at the tags which were 1 inch from where they cut the wire stating that they were 150 foot cables rather than the 100 footers they brought. Upon realizing their mistake they put the old lights back in albeit with the cut wires so they no longer work. This has now been 9 months since they cut the wires and left the job site with open junction boxes, cut wires in the grass and screws for the junction boxes simply on the ground. Emails to the main office and agent who serviced us are ignored and unanswered. We were not even asking for free replacement lights even though they cut them on an error of their own. We just wanted new lights installed which we would have paid for and some sort of responsiveness applied to see the situation handled. We have been patient and hoping not to cut ties with them as the weekly service team has always been kind, courteous and good with the kids asking them questions when they see them. Last week however it was the final issue when they came to service the pool and shut all systems off due to a leak they found off of the filter. Sadly they did not tell us they had placed the pool in maintenance mode stopping all filtration and I had to find this out myself. When I called the offices they told me they did have it in their notes and that someone would be calling me the next day to inform me that the filter had a leak and to schedule a repair. Unfortunately 7 day later this call still has not happened and had I not gone to the house and fixed it myself, the pool would have been shut down for a week (so far) not filtering and with no maintenance and no contact from Pool Doctor. When I got the fitting open to see the issue it was clear that it was caused by sloppy work from their installation team as the glue from the installation of the pipe to the filter when they did the install was so carelessly applied that it was built up on a flat surface that was intended to mate and seal to another flat surface. I took a knife and scraped the excess glue off and the system is back in service. While it took me all of 10 minutes to fix myself, the annoyance is that I am still working to repair poor work and damaged items from 9 months ago with no support from their side. We have now cancelled all services with Pool Doctor and instead of working to get the job they were paid for complete they have moved along to new paying customers. If you are not local and at your house every day, you will have a nightmare on your hands if this is the service you receive!!! In short: Friendly weekly service team, terrible quality on installs, follow up and ensuring that the final product is what you pay for. -

FAQ
How does Pool Doctors determine pricing for pool cleaning and repairs?
We assess pricing based on the pool size, condition, specific services like heat pump repairs or chlorinator installation, and whether it's residential or commercial. Factors such as algae removal or equipment replacement also influence the final quote. Contact us for a detailed breakdown tailored to your needs.
Are you licensed and insured for pool service work?
Pool Doctors carries full licensing and insurance coverage for all pool cleaning, repairs, and installations we perform. This protects both our team and your property during services like hot tub maintenance or outdoor lighting fixes. We adhere to local regulations in Lake Charles, LA, to ensure safe operations.
Does Pool Doctors handle hot tub servicing and pool equipment replacements?
We service hot tubs and spas, including cleaning from dirty conditions to sparkling clarity, as shown in our before-and-after work. Our team also replaces pool equipment, such as installing new pumps over old rusty ones and setting up automation systems. These tasks fall within our residential and commercial pool contracting scope.
What is your typical timeline and arrival window for scheduled pool services?
We schedule services with arrival windows of 2-4 hours to accommodate your day, confirming the exact time the day before. Most routine cleanings take 1-2 hours, while repairs like heat pumps may require a full day with follow-up if needed. Year-round maintenance ensures prompt response for ongoing pool care.
How does Pool Doctors handle cleanup and debris removal after pool service?
We remove all debris, waste water, and chemicals generated during cleaning or repairs, leaving your pool area tidy. For transformations from algae-filled green to clear blue water, we vacuum and filter out contaminants completely. Your deck and surroundings stay clean, with no mess left behind.
Why is hiring you safer and more effective than DIY pool maintenance?
Our professional approach uses specialized tools for safe handling of chemicals, electrical repairs like automation and lighting, avoiding risks of improper dosing or shocks common in DIY efforts. We diagnose issues like failing heat pumps accurately, preventing costly damage from trial-and-error fixes. Regular servicing by experts maintains water balance year-round, reducing health hazards from bacteria or imbalanced pH.
