8 years agoOn October 11, 2017 Richard Michael, owner of Tree Down Service came to our home with his workers to perform the specific tree work outlined on estimate dated 10/3/2017. In the process of removing limbs that extended over our home, their workers failed to secure some of the limbs which in turn fell on our roof damaging multiple shingles. When we called Richard about the damage, he agreed to pay the $428.57 Roof Depot invoice. He said he would call them and put it on a credit card. However, after two months had passed, Richard never called Roof Depot to pay the invoice for the damage to our roof. We tried calling him multiple times, but he never answered his phone nor returned our calls. In early January of 2018 we sent Richard a certified letter requesting he call Roof Depot and pay his invoice. At this time he reneged on his agreement and now stated that the damage caused by his workers was not his responsibility. Therefore, he has left us no other option than to file this poor review for Richard Michael and his business, Tree Down Service. -

FAQ
Does Tree Down offer free estimates for tree removal and other services?
We provide free estimates for all our services, including tree removal, pruning, stump grinding, and emergency storm cleanup. During the estimate visit, our arborists assess your specific situation, discuss your goals for the property, and deliver a detailed written quote on the spot. This allows you to review the proposal and make an informed decision before any work begins.
Are you licensed, insured, and certified to perform tree work?
Tree Down carries the proper insurance coverage and licensing required to safely perform tree services in Lafayette. Before hiring any tree service company, it's important to verify that they have general liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage. This protects both you and the workers if property damage or injury occurs during the job. Always ask to see proof of insurance and request that coverage details be included in your contract.
What makes Tree Down's approach to tree care different from doing it myself?
Professional tree work requires specialized equipment, safety training, and arborist expertise that go beyond what most homeowners can safely manage. Our team understands tree health assessment, proper pruning techniques, and safe removal procedures that protect your property and the people around it. Attempting tree removal or large-scale trimming without proper equipment and training can result in serious injury or costly property damage. We combine practical arborist knowledge with an understanding of how healthy trees enhance your property value and curb appeal.
How long does it typically take to complete tree removal or other services?
Tree Down schedules and executes work based on the scope of your project, which we outline during the initial estimate. The timeline depends on factors like tree size, location on your property, and whether additional services like stump grinding are needed. During your estimate consultation, we'll discuss the expected duration of each step and how many workers will be on-site. Once you sign the contract, we coordinate scheduling to complete the work efficiently while minimizing disruption to your property.
What is Tree Down's cleanup process after tree removal or trimming?
We ensure your yard is left clean and ready to enjoy after the work is complete. Depending on your needs and preferences, we can mulch limbs, cut and stack wood, or haul away debris. The specific cleanup details are included in your written estimate and contract so everyone understands what's included and what may involve additional fees. This upfront clarity prevents surprises and ensures your property is restored to your satisfaction.
Can you handle emergency tree removal if a storm damages trees on my property?
We offer emergency storm cleanup and removal services to address trees or limbs that pose immediate hazards to your home and family. Storm-damaged trees that risk falling on structures, power lines, or vehicles require prompt professional attention. Our team is equipped to assess the safety of damaged trees and remove them before they cause further damage. Contact us immediately if you experience storm damage, and we'll prioritize your situation to restore safety to your property.
