2 months agoI would like to start off by saying I have 8 yrs experience as an HVAC Tech, Service tech, installer and duct fabricator as well as EPA universally qualified. I bought our brand new house from Buckert Contracting back in Dec of 2024 for $635K and Epic did the HVAC install. Within the first month we noticed the house would not heat, as well using 300 gallons of propane a month, the house had a 1 yr warranty to get everything fixed. I immediately called Epic to figure out what the problem was the Heat. Three different techs came out including the owner, their solution is adjusted dampers in the ducts and made things worse, as well as deny all blame. They made the mistake of telling me that they used 5" duct for all the runs downstairs, I confirmed this by closely examining it, our finished basement is freezing all the time. When I was an HVAC installer 5" is only to be used for small bathrooms. I examined all the plenums and there is no reducers to keep volume up, which is why our kids rooms on the opposite of the house are freezing, sadly all of the ducts are finished in with sheetrock. I have called Epic multiple times after their initial 3 service calls within the first couple months of buying the house and they have never called me back. Aaron Buckert has told me on multiple occasions that they would get back with me, never did. I am now stuck with this problem as well as a $600 month heating bill. I truly believe the main issue is lack of duct sizing, sadly all sheetrock would need to be torn out to resolve the issue, not to mention they wouldn't even come out to verify the AC worked properly after the summer came around. The fact is, this was warrantied for a year and they refused to do anything at all! -

5 months agoWhat a great team at Epic heating and Air. Our daughter was having furnace troubles and the unit was 20 years old and the AC was a 48 year old carrier. Will came out for a service call and did his best to identify the problem but being its age we decided to get a new AC and furnace. We visited with Justin on Monday and the install was Tuesday. Preston and Aaron did a fantastic job , friendly, polite and very efficient. Thanks Epic! -

1 year agoTechnician said I was down 2 lbs with R10 but couldn't fill because didn't carry. Dan's HC came out and saw it was R22 (i think)and fully charged. Paid $200 for info that was wrong and had to pay Dan's to tell me I didn't need the 2 lbs of charge. -

FAQ
Does Epic Heating & Cooling offer free estimates for A/C repairs or furnace installations?
We provide estimates quickly after surveying the job, often within a couple of hours for central air conditioning systems. Our pricing reflects the specific problem you called about, including labor and parts needed without unexpected add-ons. This straightforward approach helps you understand the total cost upfront based on what we find during the initial assessment.
Are you licensed, insured, and experienced with HVAC repairs in Wichita?
Epic Heating & Cooling carries the necessary licensing and insurance required for HVAC work in the Wichita area. Our technicians handle refrigerant safely and comply with local permitting when needed for installations like furnaces or mini split systems. You can request proof of our credentials before we start any service to confirm our qualifications.
Does Epic Heating & Cooling service mini split systems and dirty A/C coils?
We install and service mini split systems along with cleaning dirty outdoor A/C coils to restore efficiency. Technicians also maintain furnaces and check related components like blower motors in tight spaces. This comprehensive scope covers both residential and some commercial units as shown in our work on ductwork and exposed components.
What should I expect for arrival times and scheduling with you?
Epic Heating & Cooling technicians arrive early for scheduled appointments, such as same-day service for urgent furnace or A/C fixes. We work you in quickly when possible, providing clear timelines from survey to completion for installations. Expect us to communicate the exact window and show up ready to diagnose and resolve the issue efficiently.
Does Epic Heating & Cooling clean up after HVAC installations and repairs?
We leave your home as we found it by using drop cloths and handling all debris from furnace installs or A/C coil cleanings. Technicians remove old units and waste materials properly after replacements. Our focus ensures the utility area or outdoor space is tidy once the job is complete and tested.
Why is hiring you safer and better than attempting HVAC repairs myself?
We use proper tools and knowledge to fix issues like furnace blowers or refrigerant levels without risking further damage or safety hazards from mishandling. DIY attempts often overlook connected systems, such as ensuring both heating and cooling work together after a repair. Our methodical checks verify airflow, electrical components, and overall performance to prevent inefficiencies or breakdowns that commonly occur with unprofessional work.
