1 year agoThey came out last year to fix my leaking chimney and the leak held for 1 year but started leaking again a few weeks ago and I tried contacting them several times but no answer. Had another company come out and was told A Step Above used the wrong materials and the other repair man was not surprised when I told him A Step Above did the initial repair. Beware of this company. -

1 year agoThis guy installed a liner for my chimney and put in an insert fire place. It fell apart in the first season of using it and when the liner was installed it was jammed together so bad that it leaks smoke outside the liner into the chimney. Insurance adjuster said it's extremely unsafe to use. They left mortar on my roof and the whole job is real shady. I tried contacting the couple that runs this small company but it turns out the man went to jail in Wellington , sumner county, so I'm waiting for him to get out of jail to see if he will fix it all. I paid them about $4,000 for my chimney to not work in one season. If I had more money I'd be suing them in small claims court. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM. Filing fee for small claims court only cost $75.00. We all need to sue this company -

2 years agoI would not recommend them at all! They said they inspected my chimney and it was good to go and it was not at all. The flu had two cracks in it, the damper door was seized, this was not safe to use. If we would have used the fireplace would have been a major hazard and risk. We were told we would get a full refund and never saw a penny in return -

2 years agoDylan was great, explained what I needed and also what I didn't need. He gave me a tutorial on how to get my gas fireplace going and provided a quote for future upgrades that can be done when I'm ready to covert to wood. I appreciated the straightforward work without the big upsell for things I don't need or want.

FAQ
How does A Step Above Chimney & Siding determine pricing for chimney work?
We provide custom quotes based on the specific condition of your chimney and the scope of work needed. During our inspection, we assess factors like creosote buildup, structural damage, liner condition, and any repairs required. We'll walk you through what we find and explain why each service is necessary-or honestly tell you if your chimney doesn't need work yet. Contact us to schedule a free estimate.
Are you licensed and insured to perform chimney work?
A Step Above Chimney & Siding maintains the proper licensing and insurance required to safely handle chimney inspections, cleanings, liner installations, and repairs. Our technicians follow industry standards and best practices to protect your home and ensure the work is done correctly. You can ask for proof of credentials when we arrive for your appointment.
Does A Step Above Chimney & Siding handle chimney liner installation and fireplace inserts?
Yes, we specialize in chimney liner installation and fireplace insert services alongside our core chimney sweeping and inspection work. Whether your flue needs relining to prevent dangerous gas penetration or you're interested in upgrading to a fireplace insert, our team has the expertise to handle the job properly. We also perform masonry repairs and chimney cap installation to ensure your entire system is safe and functional.
How long does a typical chimney inspection and cleaning take?
A Step Above Chimney & Siding typically completes a full inspection and cleaning within 90 minutes to two and a half hours, depending on your chimney's height, complexity, and the amount of buildup present. We start with a thorough inspection to identify any issues, then proceed with the cleaning using specialized tools and equipment. You're welcome to stay in your home during the process unless we identify a safety concern that requires immediate attention.
Will A Step Above Chimney & Siding make a mess during the cleaning process?
We use clean drop cloths and tarps to protect your flooring and furnishings throughout the job. Our team operates powerful commercial-grade vacuums with high-efficiency filters to contain soot and dust, ensuring your home stays clean. We clean up all work areas before we leave, so you won't have to worry about debris or residue after we're done.
Why should I hire a professional instead of cleaning my chimney myself?
Professional chimney sweeps have specialized training, certified equipment, and the ability to safely remove dangerous creosote buildup-especially glazed creosote, which is the most flammable type. We can access areas of your chimney system that DIY methods cannot reach, and we're trained to spot structural damage, animal nests, and venting problems that could pose serious safety risks. Attempting DIY cleaning puts your home and family at risk and often leaves hazardous deposits behind that can cause chimney fires.
