4 weeks agoI called Top Notch Tree Care late on a Thursday afternoon to see about getting an estimate on taking down 3 trees and to grind out the stumps. Rod came out the very next day to take a look around and gave me a very reasonable price quote. I got a call back that Sunday to let me know they were planning to be out the next day. Billy and the crew showed up Monday morning as planned and got the job done quickly and did a great job cleaning up. They were very nice and professional and appreciated the great communication from beginning to end. I highly recommend them for your tree service needs! 2 months agoBilly stopped by last week to take a look at a very old, very large tree about 20 feet from our house that was hanging over the roof. I already knew parts of it were hollow and it was becoming a real liability. Billy walked the site, explained the risks clearly, and gave me a quote on the spot. Three days later, his crew was mobilized and got right to work. Once the tree was down, we discovered the first 18 feet of the trunk was completely hollow, and a large branch was dangerously close to falling on our newly renovated home. They handled a high-risk removal quickly, safely, and professionally. Outstanding work from start to finish. Highly recommend Top Notch Tree Care if you want the job done right the first time. -

4 months agoI would not recommend Top Notch Tree Care. I had my three tree stumps removed by Top Notch in late July 2025. I had other projects so I just got to cleaning up the stumps debris this last weekend of October. The amount of tree grind waste they left was fine. They did not however remove significant portions of the largest stump that were actually outside of where they had properly ground it out. They had rolled past the stump roots to get to the main stump and other roots they did remove. I had to cut out the roots left behind myself by hand. Also, the amount they said would charge me was a flat $500 but when I got the bill, it was $548.75. Let me add, Top Notch was not the lowest bid. Two others were lower. When I called to inquire why my bill was higher than they said, Josh replied in a smart-ass tone, "Well, I assumed you would have known you had to pay tax". That is true but I was a small business owner for years and I always bid my amount as final. None of the other contractors I have hired for these $40,000 worth of home projects followed this practice. It is only a $50 difference but if you think about it, that is 10% more added to their bid after the work was done. Which had they been up front, I likely would have chosen another bidder because they would not have been as competitive. Plus, they charged 9.75% extra. Iowa sales tax is only 7%. This practice was dishonest in my opinion. I will not recommend or use Top Notch Tree Service. -

They provided the most amazing service I could have asked for. Their team's expert knowledge-not just in removal, but in overall tree health and care-was immediately apparent and incredibly reassuring. The level of follow up and follow through was wonderful, ensuring every detail was covered. What truly set them apart was the care they showed my property.
