I have been using them for lead paint removal. The service is ongoing. They are doing one bathroom at a time and they have done four doors so far. I have been pretty happy with the work. They are quite fast. Everything is coming back fine. I think their pricing is pretty good. I plan on having them strip some paint within the next month. They gave me good quotes on stripping door frames without having to take the frames off. They had to take things out but everything has been placed back really neat and clean. I have been happy so far. I have been having a little trouble getting hold of the guy. He eventually does call back but he is always out of town.

It only took them two days to complete the entire house. I thought the price for lead paint removal was very reasonable. They showed up on time and were very professional.

When we bought our house in 2005, Star Environmental was hired by the seller to identify and remove any asbestos from the basement steam pipes. They did testing, and did abatement from a couple of spots at joints along a few hundred feet of piping-- leaving identical looking material along the remainder of the piping. Other parts of the piping that looked the same to me, so I asked them to test other spots to make sure the asbestos was gone. They did this in Spring of 2006 and I was reassured that the remaining materials were not asbestos. This year while selling my house, the buyers ask us to certify that there was no asbestos in the basement steam pipes. I showed them the records from Star as evidence that it was clean. Their own inspector did a visual inspection and convinced them otherwise, so the buyers wanted a new letter from Star certifying that the basement pipes did not have asbestos. Star returned and took samples again. The material they sampled was in plain sight, and could be seen clearly all over the pipes in the basement. Within a day Star called back to say the samples were positive for asbestos. The offered to remove it "at cost", so at some level, they recognized a responsibility after the prior work. The buyers were not comfortable trusting the job to the same company who had failed before, and wanted their own contractor to do the work of stripping the pipes completely for $3,900. We had no choice. My family has been living in this house for nearly 6 years in the belief that Star had done their job after 3 visits, and we bought the house from a seller who in good faith had paid to have asbestos found and removed. Instead, the seller's money was wasted, and we ended up with a surprise $3,900 expense after 6 years of exposure to a known carcinogen. When our realtor called Star to point out what their series of mistakes had cost us, she was taken aback with how completely unconcerned they were. While they were responsive to requests through the process, they ultimately didn't take responsibility for their work, or the outcomes. ------ I'd give them a "C" for communication, an "F" overall.

It went well. We had to have the mold in the attic remediated in order to sell our house. They worked very quickly to resolve the issue and ensure that it wouldn't happen again.

FAQ

How does Star Environmental, Inc. determine pricing for asbestos abatement or lead removal?

We assess pricing based on the scope of the project, including testing, removal, and any necessary encapsulation or re-insulation. Factors like the size of the affected area and type of environmental hazard influence the final cost, ensuring it remains reasonable for residential and commercial properties. Homeowners can expect transparent quotes after an initial inspection to outline all work involved.

Are you licensed and insured for mold remediation and lead abatement?

Star Environmental, Inc. employs IDEM-licensed lead inspectors and supervisors, and we are an EPA Lead-Safe Repair, Renovation, and Paint certified firm. Our operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations for asbestos, lead, and mold projects, backed by a $5M pollution liability insurance policy. This setup protects both our team and your property during abatement services.

Does Star Environmental, Inc. handle selective demolition with asbestos or mold remediation?

We provide selective demolition services integrated with asbestos abatement, lead removal, and mold remediation for homes and businesses. Our experience covers projects like basement pipe abatement and attic mold removal, ensuring environmental hazards are addressed safely. This approach allows us to serve as a single contractor for properties with multiple hazards across Indiana.

What is your typical timeline for completing a lead paint removal project?

We complete lead paint removal efficiently, such as finishing an entire house in two days or handling ongoing work one bathroom at a time. Timelines depend on project size, but we prioritize quick resolution, like remediating attic mold swiftly to meet selling deadlines. Our team arrives on time and maintains professional scheduling to minimize disruption.

What happens to waste and debris after Star Environmental, Inc. completes a job?

We manage all waste from asbestos, lead, mold, and demolition projects in compliance with regulations, including proper disposal of hazardous materials. Our industrial cleaning services ensure sites are left clean, with surfaces treated using anti-microbial detergents and protective coatings where needed. This leaves your residential or commercial property safe and ready for use.

Why is your professional approach safer than DIY for environmental hazards like mold or lead?

Our method identifies moisture sources for mold and uses specialized anti-microbial treatments, unlike DIY which often misses root causes and risks spreading contaminants. With licensed inspectors and OSHA-certified safety programs, we follow strict protocols for asbestos and lead that prevent exposure, far beyond what homeowners can achieve safely. Over three decades of handling these hazards ensures regulatory compliance and health protection.
