2 months agoI was in desperate need of getting power back at my business, I called Korte yesterday and their electrician was not able to restore power and said 1 week to get a new breaker. Based on a referral I got ahold of Mr. Votaw and he came out right away and was able to get power back in 15-20 min (while explaining to me things along the way!). I still need a new breaker, but at least I can keep business open as usual. Thank you!!! -

2 months agoWhoever was driving down bluffton road at 6:25, align your damn head lights and go back to driving school. Running red lights, "turn after stop on red", and following too close doesn't give your company a good name. In fact, the entire damn city needs to go back to driving school. Y'all going to keep killing people driving like you do, especially whoever the VOTAW guy following me this morning. Guy got behind me around Butler on Hillegas and followed me this way until I turned around lower Huntington. -

4 years agoInstalled meterbase and wiring for my Tesla so that I can take advantage of AEP's rebate and discounted kilowatt hour rate. From the quote though the install, Votaw employees were professional, thorough, and excellent to work with on the project. Highly recommended! -

FAQ
Does Votaw Electric offer free estimates, and how do you determine pricing for electrical work?
We provide custom quotes based on the specific electrical work your home or business needs, rather than using a one-size-fits-all price. For many projects, we can give a ballpark estimate after learning about your situation, then refine it once we understand the existing wiring, panel capacity, and any code upgrades required. Larger jobs, such as meter upgrades or EV charger installations, are priced based on materials, labor time, and any coordination needed with your utility. We explain the scope and cost clearly before work begins so you understand what is included.
Are you licensed and insured to work on residential and commercial electrical systems?
Votaw Electric is a professional electrical contractor that performs code-compliant work on both homes and businesses in the Fort Wayne area. Our team follows all applicable electrical codes and safety standards for panel work, new circuits, meter upgrades, and EV charger installations. We maintain appropriate licensing and insurance so property owners are protected while we are working on-site. When needed, we also coordinate with utilities and inspectors to ensure the work is properly documented and approved.
Can Votaw Electric install EV chargers, meter bases, and handle more complex power issues?
We regularly install EV charger wiring, meter bases, and related circuitry so homeowners can take advantage of utility programs and safe, dedicated charging. Our electricians also troubleshoot complex power issues in homes and businesses, such as panel or breaker problems that affect critical equipment. From conduit runs and panel work to wiring upgrades, we plan the job carefully so the new equipment is integrated safely with your existing system. We walk you through what we are installing, how it works, and any ongoing requirements from your utility.
How do you schedule jobs, and what should I expect for timing and arrival windows?
Votaw Electric schedules projects based on the type of work, the urgency of the power issue, and the time needed to plan and gather materials. For straightforward electrical tasks, we often set a specific day and an arrival window, and our team keeps you informed if timing changes. Larger projects like meter upgrades, new circuits, or commercial work may involve multiple visits, and we outline that schedule in advance. We also discuss any planned power shutoffs or access needs so you can prepare your home or business before we arrive.
Will Votaw Electric clean up and handle debris or materials after electrical work is done?
We leave the work area as orderly as possible once the electrical job is finished. Any packaging, scrap wire, or old electrical components that we remove as part of the project are gathered and taken away or placed where you request. If a project requires opening walls or ceilings, we explain ahead of time what level of patching or follow-up trades may be needed. Our goal is for your panel areas, equipment rooms, or garage spaces to be neat and safe once the new wiring or equipment is installed.
Why is your professional electrical work safer than trying to do it myself?
Our electricians work with electrical codes, load calculations, and fault protection every day, which helps prevent hazards that can be easy to overlook in DIY projects. We design each circuit, panel change, or meter upgrade so it can safely handle the expected load and meet current standards, not just "work for now." During a job, we test connections, verify grounding, and check that breakers, wiring sizes, and terminations are correct for the application. This approach reduces the risk of shocks, fires, nuisance tripping, and expensive rework that often follows improvised electrical repairs.
