Jorge came out for a boiler service call and to check the radiant heat. He ran around the house with my husband looking for radiant heat areas. stated he informed my husband this would cost him. He lied, my husband is not senile and if Jorge would have told him this would cost him 100 dollars an hour my husband would have sent him packing after the first hour, maybe let him go a second hour, but we were charged 390.00 and no boiler was serviced. I will be calling the states attorney on this. He stated we would need 5 new pumps for the radiant heat going to the boiler and additional work of cleaning and servicing the boiler, which mind you after 3 hours was not done. How much does an average service call cost? He told my husband pumps would be around 90-125.00 bucks. mind you he never gave a written estimate for any of this. He only presented balances after the work was done. He gave a verbal report of charges. on 01/08/2021 he came out did the boiler and brought along Delano who was new to Robinson and to service the furnace. Jorge put the new pumps on and the thermostat, stated he would put the readings at 62 which should be efficient. note: one zone 5 was already effective, but my husband decided to change out anyway, just because all the other ones were new. The charge for the 5 pumps were 1,186.90 he gave us a little credit 1079.00. way more than what he quoted my husband. He charged 774.00 for labor now mind you he charged 390.00 to run around the house. He also placed on the invoice that the boiler still needed to be clean. What you mean to tell me after placing pumps you put them in knowing that the boiler needed cleaning in servicing. This is poor business practices and unacceptable. Now back to the furnace We were changed 99.00 for the cleaning, reasonable. However, they stated we had a carrier 2018 the guy stated it was ok just needed cleaning. He also notices high end Infinity air purifiers not working and they would cost about 1200 a piece and if we did not purchase before Feb 01, 2021, they would be more than that. I asked him over the phone for an alternative he told me we could use 16X25X4 which cost about 30.00 apiece or less. I told him we could put them in ourselves., if he shows us how, but my husband already knew how to place them. I came home around lunch time Delano came in with 2 filters the same filters I asked him to show us how to put in, I asked him the how much were the filters because I was not going to pay 30.00 dollars, he told me no they were not but he did not know how much. He did not think they would be more than 30.00 if that much. He ended up charging us a186.00. I spoke with Jorge who called back after my compliant. Stating my husband was aware of the price. He also stated that he still had to service the boiler and that would be an extra charge. We did not let him come out. Please be aware prior to any service by this company ensure they give you a write up. And if there is any changes, they inform you in writing. It was not right Jorge that you did not disclose and Robinson you charged 186 for 19.00 filters. Libertyville residents

Corey from Robinson Heating and Cooling, Inc. was not only courteous but efficient and knowledgeable. The price was very reasonable and the amount of the initial inspection was deducted from the furnace repair. This is their busy season and I was fortunate to be able to schedule in a service call around my work hours. I would recommend this company and Corey very highly! As I type this review I am sitting in a warm living room and it's very cozy...perfect timing before the real cold begins. I will definitely be using this company in the future.

Extremely well. Bill, Jeff and Eric could not have been more professional, kind, patient, reliable, experienced, not to mention, respectful of the inside and outside of my home. Jeff even took the rather large pile of over-grown hedge trimmings home and added them to his burn pile! Now, that's service! My husband and I could not have been more pleased!

FAQ

How does Robinson Service Experts determine pricing for HVAC work?

We provide detailed written estimates that break down all costs, including equipment with model numbers, labor, permits, materials, and any additional services. Our pricing is transparent so you understand exactly where your money goes. We recommend getting estimates from multiple contractors to compare, and we're happy to walk you through our proposal and answer any questions about what's included or excluded before you decide.

Are you licensed and insured?

Robinson Service Experts maintains full licensing and insurance to protect you and your home. We carry workers' compensation and general liability coverage, and our team is familiar with local permitting requirements and inspections. When you hire us, we can provide proof of our credentials and certifications, giving you peace of mind that the work meets state and local standards.

Does Robinson Service Experts handle ductwork inspection and airflow testing?

Yes, we conduct thorough inspections of your entire HVAC system, including ductwork, electrical components, and airflow measurement. Leaky or poorly designed ducts can reduce system performance and efficiency even if your equipment is properly sized. We'll check for kinks, undersized runs, and static pressure issues, then recommend modifications if needed to meet manufacturer specifications and optimize your comfort.

What should I expect during the installation process?

Robinson Service Experts handles the complete installation process from start to finish, including pulling all necessary permits on your behalf. Our team protects your home with drop cloths and shoe covers, and we clean up thoroughly after the work is done. We'll walk you through how to operate your new system, explain maintenance requirements, and help with warranty registration so you're fully prepared to use your equipment.

How does Robinson Service Experts approach system sizing and load calculations?

We conduct a full home evaluation using proper load calculations to determine the right equipment size for your space. This involves examining your square footage, insulation levels, existing ductwork, windows, sun exposure, and room-by-room airflow needs. Oversized or undersized systems cause inefficiency and shorter equipment life, so we take the time to get this right and can show you our calculation summary and sizing rationale.

Why is professional HVAC installation better than DIY?

Our team follows industry best practices that protect your investment and home. Improper installation can significantly decrease system efficiency, shorten equipment lifespan, and void warranties. We handle critical details like correct refrigerant charge, proper line set sizing, electrical connections, condensate drain installation to code, and thermostat setup. We also test system performance after installation to verify airflow and charge, ensuring everything operates safely and efficiently from day one.
