4 weeks agoCosmic is a good honest HVAC company. David did an entire replacement of my HVAC system after our AC decided to stop working during a week filled with 90 degree days. I first worked with him to try and repair. When that didn't work we ended up replacing everything. He helped with to get the best possible equipment to fit the needs of our home. I learned a lot about home cooling and heating in the process and was able to choose the best system for my home. He also went above and beyond to figure out a complicated issue with wiring the new system and was able to fix and troubleshoot. As a separate project, he also added an additional AC system that didn't previously exist in the lower level of our home. I hope to only have to call Cosmic HVAC for maintenance moving forward. But if I do need to call with an issue, David was a pleasure to work with. Definitely recommend. -

FAQ
How does Cosmic HVAC determine pricing for HVAC installations and repairs?
We assess pricing based on the specific scope of work, including equipment needs, labor for installation or replacement, and any required materials like ductwork modifications. Factors such as your home's size, existing system condition, and Chicago's local code requirements influence the final quote. We provide detailed written estimates upfront to outline all costs clearly, helping you understand what is included before any work begins.
Are you licensed and insured for HVAC work?
Cosmic HVAC carries all necessary licensing, bonding, and insurance required for HVAC services in Chicago, including EPA 608 certification for handling refrigerants. Our coverage includes general liability and workers' compensation to protect your property and ours during installations or repairs. You can request proof of these documents at any time to verify compliance with local regulations.
Does Cosmic HVAC handle inducer motor replacements and furnace tune-ups?
We perform inducer motor replacements and furnace tune-ups as part of our standard HVAC services. These tasks involve inspecting the motor for failures, replacing it with a compatible part, and conducting a full tune-up to check airflow, electrical components, and overall system performance. Homeowners benefit from these services to prevent breakdowns and maintain efficient heating in Chicago winters.
What is your typical timeline and arrival window for HVAC jobs?
We schedule appointments with specific arrival windows, typically within a 2-hour block, and communicate any delays promptly. Installation timelines vary from one day for repairs like inducer motor replacements to a few days for full HVAC systems, depending on permitting and parts availability. Expect a complete walkthrough at the end to confirm everything operates correctly before we leave.
What cleanup does Cosmic HVAC provide after HVAC installations or repairs?
We use drop cloths and shoe covers to protect your floors and furnishings during the job, then thoroughly clean the work area by removing all debris, packaging, and old parts. Any waste from furnace tune-ups or installations, such as removed motors or duct materials, is hauled away responsibly. Your home is left neat and ready for immediate use, with no mess behind.
Why is hiring you for HVAC work safer and better than attempting DIY repairs?
Professional HVAC work requires specialized tools, refrigerant handling certifications, and knowledge of Chicago building codes to avoid risks like electrical hazards or improper system sizing. DIY attempts often overlook critical checks like static pressure or duct leakage, leading to inefficiency, higher energy bills, or premature equipment failure. Our approach includes guiding you through options, verifying performance post-installation, and ensuring long-term safety and comfort without the dangers of untrained handling.
