2 months agoI don't want to bash a company, but They have serviced my furnace and installed it . I had them out for the yearly service in August 2025 before winter came. They had installed a steam humidifier on our furnace earlier due to we had solid wood floors installed. I noticed that the last time they were here our humidifier didn't seem to work as it did before they came out. I just assumed that maybe it would get better. We didn't actually turn it on until October due to the humidity was fine in the summer months. We usually see the humidity around the 28 to 35 % . That keeps our floors from shrinking and cracking. After the service when we used the humidifier, it only barley reached 20%. That was short lived, it went down to 15% in a few weeks. In February I decided to go down and look at the humidifier to see if it was working, it wasn't, the red service light was on, and the unit was no longer working. I decided to go down to Alpine heating and talk to them. In our conversation I was told that it's normal for the filter to plug in six months to a year. Even if I gave them the benefit of the doubt, it had only actually been on, for just over 4 months. It didn't do that when they installed it, it was at least a year. Anyway I was charged close to 200.00 for the filter, plus labor to replace it and service the furnace. After leaving Alpine, I decided to order the filter and replace it myself, being I do have a background of natural gas and heating. I looked up the filter they replaced and found it 2 for 49.00, the exact filter I paid 200.00 for. Upon removing the filter (or cannister) found a mess. All of the hoses were full of debris. As you can see in the attached pictures. This is what I paid for. I took it apart and cleaned everything up, and installed a new filter. It now has 35% humidity, and is working great. I expected Alpine to take care of a regular customer , who relied on them to do there job, and they really let me down. I would really like to get my money back from them for the really expensive service they didn't complete, causing damage to our wood floors. I will see what, and how they respond. Hopefully they do the right thing!!!! Oh, and one more thing. I just found out that the filter they installed was the wrong one. It was for a 110 volt system, ours is a 220 system. Upon doping research, I found that if you install the wrong filter, it shortens the life dramatically, and is not efficient at all. -

6 months agoNew technician to their company a year ago came to service and clean the system. Didn't clean it all the way (obstruction still there) AND when using a shop vac with someone else's house soot, didn't hook up the vacuum right and it exploded soot everywhere in the basement. He did not apologize, and did not offer to fix it. He blamed my electric hvac system on it. He even wiped a sooty foot on my concrete outside when leaving. It took me a year of constant cleaning to finally get rid of it. He was rude, and the company didn't seem to care much. I called twice and they said they'd "talk" with him. -

9 months agoProb the worst company I've dealt with. As you can see from the photos, they didn't even try to install the ducts in my basement correct. Cut the holes too big, didn't fit them in the right way, no cement glue on 2 out of the 6, and hardly any on the other 4. Called the supervisor and he sent them back..thought after they left that it would be perfect after their embarrassing 1st attempt...nope, they still didn't put any sealant on one at all, and the rest were still not sealed. Called the supervisor for the second time asking if he would come by to talk to him. Didn't reply or come by, just sent the same guys back. Still wasn't right, had to get the owner involved, which was the supervisors father. He sent out his "better" crew a couple days later. Finally was acceptable, but left a partial tub of glue so that I could get anything they missed. Terrible terrible

FAQ
How does Alpine Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. determine pricing for HVAC services like furnace installations?
We base pricing on the specific needs of your heating or cooling system, including factors like equipment size, installation complexity, and any required add-ons such as steam humidifiers. Custom quotes detail labor, materials, and scope to ensure transparency before work begins. This approach helps homeowners understand costs upfront and avoid surprises.
Are you licensed and insured for HVAC work?
Alpine Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. carries all necessary licensing, bonding, and insurance required for HVAC contracting in Idaho Falls, ID, including coverage for general liability and workers' compensation. Our technicians also hold EPA 608 certification for handling refrigerants safely. These credentials protect your property and ensure compliance with local codes during furnace servicing or duct installations.
Does Alpine Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. handle installations for ductwork, mini-splits, tankless water heaters, and furnaces?
We install and service a range of HVAC systems, including metal ductwork with proper sealing using mastic, Daikin mini-split air conditioning units, Navien tankless water heaters, and Carrier furnaces or air handlers. Thorough evaluations ensure components fit your home's layout and perform efficiently. Homeowners benefit from systems tailored to maintain year-round comfort without common sizing errors.
What is your typical timeline and arrival window for scheduling HVAC maintenance or installations?
We schedule services with clear arrival windows, often completing yearly furnace tune-ups in a single visit before winter, as done in August preparations. Installation timelines depend on system complexity but include prompt coordination from quote to completion. Expect our technicians to confirm details ahead to minimize disruptions to your routine.
What cleanup does Alpine Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. perform after furnace servicing or humidifier add-ons?
Our technicians conduct thorough cleanings during every visit, removing all debris and leaving no mess behind, even when using tools like shop vacs for system maintenance. We stock and provide filters on-site, ensuring your space stays tidy post-service. This practice keeps your home clean while addressing any soot or obstructions effectively.
Why is hiring you for HVAC maintenance safer and better than attempting DIY fixes?
Professional servicing includes comprehensive inspections of airflow, electrical components, and ductwork that DIY efforts often miss, preventing issues like incomplete cleanings or improper installations. We follow industry standards for refrigerant handling, static pressure testing, and equipment sizing via load calculations, reducing risks of inefficiency or breakdowns. Homeowners avoid hazards like electrical faults or voided warranties by relying on certified technicians for tasks beyond basic filter changes.
