5 years agoWe hired Dillabaugh's to install wool carpeting in a downstairs basement bedroom and bedroom closet. I really dislike writing a poor, but feel I have no choice at this point after being unable to resolve my complaint with the company. We paid over $5,000 for a relatively small job, and justified it as having peace of mind that we'd have a high quality product and install completed. Unfortunately it has been just the opposite. As you'll see from the photos below, the install was rushed and incredibly sloppy. Areas of the threshold at the entrance of the bedroom and closet were cut jagged and loose. Nearly all areas around the baseboards (which we double checked with a Dillabaugh's employee about height set prior to installing) are loose and not even connected, with large gaps of concrete visible. When I contacted Dillabaugh's Representatives to describe my dissatisfaction and concerns with the install, they at first responded cordially, assuring me that a manager would be out and they would make things right. (which I have via text confirmations, as well as them agreeing that the install was poor) I've now dealt with 3 managers, 2 site visits, and a final response of "we can stretch your threshold to take care of those two areas, but we will not be correcting anything else. Your baseboards were set too high, and that is the problem." My question to Dillabaugh's has been this: 1. Why did your employee tell me to set the base where we did? 2. Why did your installer proceed with the install if you all knew the base was too high to begin with? 3. Baseboards aside, can you not see how sloppy and rushed the job was with no inspection on completion? (Installer just took off prior to being able to do a walk through) 4. Why are you not standing behind your service and employees and just making this right? All I have asked for is a small financial concession to partially cover my time and costs in hiring somebody to re-set the base, as it seems to be the most economical and efficient correction here. The resounding response has been that Dillabaugh's won't stand behind their contractors work and they "cannot go backwards in time" (Wayne's words, not mine) Seems logical, it's just a shame a large corporation isn't willing to do the right thing and keep customers. I will not be using Dillabaugh's again. -

6 years agoIn October 2019 my home flooded. I went to Dillabaughs and explained my situation. I had a insurance credit to replace my flooring. However I wanted to upgrade so that I wouldn't have the previous problems. I was shown a coretec vinyl flooring made by Shaw. Was told it is water resistant and scratch resistant. So I'm thinking it's the same as my laminate flooring but better. Wouldn't get water damage and wouldn't scratch. I paid the upgrade fee. The day it was installed it scratched!! This floor is so easy to scratch there's scratches everywhere! We moved furniture like the installer suggested. His initial stress about it scratching worried me. You can take a key to the previous laminate flooring which was 50% less the price of this vinyl and it would not scratch. You can scratch this vinyl floor with a chair!!! I immediately filed a claim with Dillabaughs. A gentleman came out and stated that he had never seen this floor scratch like it was. Stated must be a bad batch. Told us Shaw would be out and either they will replace the sections of scratches or completely redo our flooring. This is what we wanted as we were extremely disappointed! We spent roughly 5k on this floor! We were told it could be a couple months before hearing from someone at Shaw. The holidays were in full swing so I was okay with that. In March I called the nampa store several times with no call back. Today I called the main office in Boise. Talked to the claims department and was told our claim was closed! Shaw would not come look at the floor. They would offer repair sections at cost and installation OUT OF MY POCKET!!?? Are you kidding me!? Not only was I told incorrect information when the floor was sold to me but was told incorrect information from the Dillabaughs inspector! Then on top of it all was not ONCE contacted! Now it's my responsibility to contact cortec but I don't have much hope. So basically I spent roughly 5-6k on a floor I HATE! This is in our entire downstairs of our home! And now I have to just deal with it. I will never go to this business again and will be sure to tell anyone who asks to stay clear. -

9 years agoThey were very helpful and knowledgable in the beginning with making suggestions and helping us find the right product. Full payment was required upfront. They were quick to take our money, but not very good on follow through. Installers (who were contracted through Dillabaugh's) arrived promptly and did a good job removing the old flooring and prepping the underlayment. Dillabaugh's rep had promised that she would stop in to check the progress and see the final result. This never happened. We had contracted and paid for quarter round to finish certain places (i..e. around cabinet bases) but installers just caulked these seams instead, so we didn't get what we paid for. The caulking looked good so that was okay with us, except that we had already paid for the quarter round. Dillabaugh's would not give a refund for the quarter round so we said that we wanted the quarter round in case we decided to add it later. More than two months later and after several phone calls, we still don't have the quarter round. They are very slow to respond once they have your money. There are probably businesses out there with better customer service and follow through. -

10 years agoThe cabinet and carpet part was good, the rest was a comedy of errors and some hiding abouts some problems and lying about it. wrong materials ordered or poor workmanship, always having to make them come back to correct problems. The biggest problem is there lack of standing behind there products and workmanship. After a month of being in our new house we were having problems with the hardwood floors about 1000 sq.ft. of it to the tune of $10,000.00 They have done everything they can to try and do nothing and blame it on other things. Now 10 months later we have complete failed floors and they won't do anything about it and we will have to completely remove ourselves and replace. I would caution anyone on using dillabaughs for there flooring needs they don't stand behind there products or workmanship and do what ever necessary to get out of taking care of problems.

FAQ
How does Dillabaugh's Flooring America determine pricing for carpet installation?
We base pricing on precise measurements of your space, the type of carpet selected, and any necessary subfloor preparation or tear-out of old flooring. Factors like room size and layout complexity influence the final quote to ensure accurate coverage without excess material. Homeowners receive a custom quote after our assessment to reflect the full scope of work.
Are you licensed and insured for flooring work?
Dillabaugh's Flooring America carries the proper licensing and insurance required for carpet contracting and related services like tile installation and countertop work. Our coverage protects both our crew and your property during tear-out, prep, and installation. This setup allows us to handle jobs confidently from start to finish.
Does Dillabaugh's Flooring America handle cabinet making and tile installation along with carpet?
We provide cabinet making, tile installation, countertop installation, and full flooring contracting in addition to carpet services. Our process includes precise measurements and subfloor prep tailored to each material for homes and businesses. This comprehensive scope ensures seamless integration across different flooring types and custom cabinetry.
What is your typical timeline and arrival window for installations?
We schedule installations to fit your needs, with most carpet jobs completed in a single day after precise measurements and prep. Our crew arrives at the agreed time window, ready to tear out old floors and lay new carpet using professional stretching techniques. Clear communication beforehand sets realistic expectations for start and finish times.
What does Dillabaugh's Flooring America do with debris and cleanup after carpet installation?
We remove and dispose of old flooring, excess carpet, and all installation-related debris from your property. Our team leaves the space clean, with subfloors prepped smoothly and new carpet secured without remnants. This step ensures your home or business is ready for immediate use post-installation.
Why is your professional carpet installation approach better and safer than DIY?
Our method uses specialized tools like power stretchers for wrinkle-free seams and durable padding placement, which DIY lacks and often leads to loose fits or voids. We prep subfloors properly to prevent future issues like buckling, unlike home attempts that risk uneven surfaces or adhesive failures. Professionals guarantee a job done right the first time, avoiding costly fixes from improper techniques.
