There is a discrepancy in time between the client (that's you) web browser time zone and the server time zone, such that late in the day, you can't submit an on-line payment because the server views the Hawaii current date as being in the past. If you try to pay and the form won't let you submit saying "enter a current or future date", come back the next day early morning when both Hawaii and the HECO payment web server have the same current date.

It's been almost 8 hours since our water was shut off. Your people are joking round and smoking the ones on the job laughing it up while people are waiting for the water to come back on. Some of us we need shower before going to bed. We no like sleep in our bed feeling dirty and sweaty.

Water is an essential service, and the board of water supply does not have sufficient staffing to meet the needs of the community. If you have an issue, you will not be able to contact anybody on the phone - you will be stuck calling police or sewer. If you need to move billing over (i.e. you are renting), you will need to find 2+ hours during a workday to get them on the phone. Online form is present, but does not appear to work. It took over 2 months for us to get water billing transferred over. Absolutely maddening process...

FAQ

How does Honolulu Board of Water Supply determine pricing for water services?

We base water service charges on actual usage measured by meters, with rates set to cover the costs of maintaining Oahu's water supply and distribution system. Bills reflect the volume of water delivered, and any adjustments for leaks or errors require verification through our process. Homeowners can review their usage history to understand charges and report discrepancies promptly for resolution.

Do you offer free estimates for water damage issues?

We provide information on water-related challenges without charge, but as managers of the municipal system, formal assessments follow standard procedures. Contact us to discuss your situation, and we will guide you on next steps based on the issue's nature. This ensures accurate handling without upfront costs to you.

Is Honolulu Board of Water Supply licensed and insured for water damage work?

We operate as a semi-autonomous city agency overseeing Oahu's water resources, with all necessary regulatory approvals for our operations. Our infrastructure maintenance, including water damage response, adheres to city standards for safety and compliance. Homeowners can verify our status through official city channels for peace of mind.

The Honolulu Board of Water Supply will handle water main breaks and pipe repairs in my area, right?

Honolulu Board of Water Supply manages the municipal water distribution system, addressing issues like main breaks and supply maintenance across Oahu. Our teams respond to system-wide challenges, including those captured in operations at pump stations and control rooms. For home-specific concerns, we assess connection points to determine responsibility.

What is your typical timeline for restoring water service after an outage?

We prioritize restoring service based on the outage's cause, such as maintenance or repairs to the distribution system. Timelines vary by issue complexity, but our teams work efficiently to minimize disruptions for customers. Check updates through available channels during extended work to stay informed on progress.

Why is it safer to let you handle water system issues instead of trying DIY fixes?

Our professional approach uses specialized equipment and knowledge of Oahu's water infrastructure, like sealing artesian wells and operating pump stations, to prevent further damage or contamination. DIY attempts risk worsening leaks, compromising water quality, or violating regulations. We ensure long-term protection of this vital resource while addressing immediate needs correctly.
