18 years agoChuck was the electrical contractor (sub) on a major project for us. The work was completed (and received final inspection) on 28 August 2007 and came with a one-year warranty for the work. We didn't have any major problems with any of the electrical in the addition, but on August 20, 2008, we lost power altogether in the unit. Chuck came out and was unable to pinpoint the problem because the failure occurred somewhere in the power supply from our power box to the power box in the addition. Which meant that the problem occurred in the line running from our house to the addition. Except, since this power line was not in any kind of conduit (and indeed was now buried under the driveway), there was no simple way to fix the problem. Our options were either to A) jackhammer the driveway, remove the power line and run a new one, or B) run a new line 100' around our house, through our backyard and into the addition. We opted for option B. Chuck gave us a quote of a few thousand dollars to run the new line. But when we asked about the warranty, he said he'd have to check around to see how to handle it. After a few days, he told us that he could not honor his 1-year warranty because it was so close to expiring. We were shocked. If this problem occurred a week after he installed the line, he would have certainly replaced it at his cost, but because the failure occurred a week before the warranty period expired, he said he couldn't honor it. Plus, he charged us $350 to run a temporary line from our house to the addition (over the driveway) which included about 50' of line. We would not use this contractor again under any circumstances. There's still something to be said for honor, and too few business people actually have that quality these days.

FAQ
How does Chuck's Electrical Services determine pricing for electrical work?
We provide detailed, upfront estimates before any work begins so you know exactly what to expect with no hidden surprises. Our quotes break down the scope of work by area or room, listing every item that will be completed. The final cost depends on the type and complexity of your project-whether it's a simple repair, panel upgrade, custom installation, or energy-efficient lighting retrofit. We're transparent about our pricing and happy to answer any questions about your estimate.
Are you licensed and insured?
Chuck's Electrical Services is fully licensed and insured to perform residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work in Ewa Beach. Licensing and insurance are essential protections for you and your property, ensuring that all work meets local electrical codes and safety standards. We stand behind our work with a one-year warranty, giving you peace of mind that any issues will be addressed promptly.
Does Chuck's Electrical Services handle specialty installations like ceiling fans and custom lighting?
Yes, we handle custom installations across all types of electrical projects. Our work includes everything from ceiling fan installations-like the tropical-style fan with palm-leaf blades we've installed in Ewa Beach homes-to energy-efficient lighting retrofits, panel upgrades, and specialized equipment setup. Whether your project is straightforward or requires specific expertise, our team has the training and experience to complete it safely and to code.
What should I expect in terms of timeline and scheduling?
Chuck's Electrical Services works with you to schedule projects at times that minimize disruption to your daily routine. During the estimate phase, we discuss how long your project will take and whether power outages will be necessary. We'll explain exactly when and for how long power will need to be shut off, allowing you to plan accordingly. Our team arrives on time and communicates clearly throughout the project so you know what to expect each day.
How does Chuck's Electrical Services handle cleanup and waste removal after electrical work?
We leave your home in clean, safe condition after completing any project. Our team removes debris and waste materials generated during the work, so you don't have to worry about cleanup. Whether we're installing a new ceiling fan, upgrading your electrical panel, or running new wiring, we respect your space and ensure the work area is restored to its original state. This attention to detail is part of our commitment to professional service.
Why should I hire a professional electrician instead of attempting electrical work myself?
Electrical work involves serious safety risks-improper installation can lead to electrical shocks, fires, code violations, and damage to your home's systems. Professional electricians have the training, tools, and knowledge to diagnose problems accurately and complete work to local electrical codes. We ensure your electrical system functions safely and reliably for years to come. Additionally, permitted and inspected work protects your home's value and provides liability coverage that DIY work does not.
