1 year agoThe incomplete work we have discovered could have been life changing for our whole family. The unprofessional work truly shows. The work we paid for was never completed as they stated it was. Now we are finding ourselves in repairs that we should not have to be doing. We paid over 10k for Higgins to do a job. The return that was put in was never properly done with the proper enclosure. Seals. Wraps were not completed on ductwork. Now we are paying another company to fix the incomplete mess left behind by Higgins out of Callahan Fl. I'm so upset by this because our main concern is the health of our children. This could have resulted in massive damage, mold damage that could have made us very sick. -

1 year agoThe technician that arrived, came early was very knowledgable and friendly. Worked quickly to diagnose the issue. Our unit is old which we already knew so he wasn't able to fix the issue. He did determine what the issue so he could get with the office to work on getting the parts quickly. -

FAQ
How does Huggins Mechanical determine pricing for HVAC installations?
We provide custom written estimates after evaluating your specific needs, which may include factors like your home's square footage, insulation levels, existing ductwork condition, and the type of system you need. Our estimates itemize equipment costs, labor, materials, and any permits or inspections required so you understand exactly what you're paying for. We recommend getting estimates from multiple contractors to compare, and we're happy to walk you through our pricing rationale and answer any questions about what's included or excluded.
Are you licensed and insured?
Huggins Mechanical maintains the proper licensing and insurance required to operate in Jacksonville, Florida. When you contact us, we can provide documentation of our credentials and discuss our coverage, including workers' compensation and general liability insurance. This protects you from liability in case of property damage or other issues during the installation process.
Does Huggins Mechanical handle ductwork installation and inspection?
Yes, we handle complete ductwork installation as part of our HVAC services, from sizing and layout to final installation in attics and other spaces. During any installation or repair, we inspect your existing ductwork for leaks, kinks, undersized runs, and poor transitions that can reduce system performance and efficiency. If modifications are needed to meet manufacturer specifications and ensure proper airflow, we'll discuss those options with you upfront.
What should I expect for scheduling and how long does an installation take?
You can expect clear communication about timeline from the moment you book with us, including when our crew will arrive and how long the job typically takes. Our team works efficiently and stays on-site until the installation is complete rather than stretching the job across multiple days. We'll discuss any permitting timelines upfront and let you know what to expect on installation day, including how we'll protect your home and what testing we'll perform before we leave.
How does Huggins Mechanical handle cleanup and protection of my home during installation?
We take care to protect your home during the installation process by using drop cloths, shoe covers, and other precautions to minimize mess and disruption. After the work is complete, we clean up debris and waste materials so your home is left in good condition. We also walk you through how to operate your new system and explain maintenance requirements and warranty registration before we finish.
Why should I hire a professional instead of attempting HVAC work myself?
HVAC installation and repair require specialized knowledge, tools, and certifications that go beyond typical DIY skills. Improper installation can significantly reduce system efficiency, shorten equipment lifespan, and void manufacturer warranties. We handle critical details like proper refrigerant charge, line set sizing, electrical connections, condensate management, and load calculations that determine whether your system performs correctly and safely for years to come.
