4 years agoI had my whole up stairs carpeted done, based on the reviews.. Well did I get fooled!!! Less then a year later it started gathering and gathering and needed stretching. I called E.J. Alemar Carpet no less then 4 times and the last telephone called leaded to him (E.J. Alemar) saying I have NO TIME to help you!!! You should call somebody else!! Now the cost to get this done by another company will cost. me!! Doesn't seem like the reviews we so depend on are working!!! -

5 years agoThe WORST experience I have ever had with a contractor in my 49 years. Someone screwed up. I don't fault them for that. Nobody is perfect and no contractor is perfect. But the way they chose to handle things was unprofessional and EJ was rude, difficult, and reprehensible, going so far as to call my wife, who made the order, a liar. Ernesto, his assistant, worked out multiple deals that were fair, admitting to the mistakes made. EJ made everything worse by getting involved. First, EJ tried to explain to me that "1 lot" means anything he wanted it to mean. It's what was on the contract. 1 lot, asking ANY carpet person, means 1 dye lot, all the carpet the same color. The carpet in my hallway is different from my bedrooms. Noticeably so. Then, Ernesto admitted he messed up on measuring and they did not have enough carpet to finish the job. EJ almost doubled the price. I said no, came to a fair agreement with Ernesto-which I didn't have to do-but EJ vetoed it. I had to bring in another carpet installer to finish the job. We finally struck a deal for work done. I just wanted to be done with him. I paid a lawyer $500 to draw up an agreement because I didn't trust him. He signed and wanted a check instead of waiting for the credit card charge challenge to be reversed. Being stupid, I wrote a check, not realizing that the day before he had challenged my issue and won. So now he had both the check and the credit card charge. I was in a position that I had to take him to court or get my credit card company to step in again. -they did and I finally got my money back. The second carpet guy I had come in to finish the job, after reading EJ's contract, said he would have had everything ripped up and replaced, entirely finished, for the amount agreed upon-and had done so in the past. Discolorations in lots, he explained, and the way the carpets are installed, can make it look like a different color. What he saw at my house though was completely different colors. As a small business owner myself, I'm a nice guy and don't try to screw anybody just because they made a mistake as I make them myself...and pay for it. I worked out multiple deals with Ernesto. EJ made it impossible. When I went to his shop to have the agreement signed and drop off the check, I went in there nicely. EJ quickly made it into an ugly confrontation. -

6 years agoThey did a great job with my carpet! There was a wide selection of options based on budget and usage needs. EJ was very kind and I loved being able to support a local business owner who actually cares about his customers vs a big box store like Home Depot or Lowe's. The installers were professional and efficient. I would shop here again! -

6 years agoMr Alemar is an experienced salesperson, and his installation crew were top notch. They did new carpets on my house prior to seeing it and they were on time within budget. Had a situation with another hardwood installer that didn't do that great of a job after some humidity hit the floor and Mr Alemars crew helped fix it. Guerremo and crew do great work. -
