12 years agoA buddy at work referred me to Mike Bowman and told me he did hardwood floors for the Taubman's (builders of Oakland mall and various other malls in the metro area) so I assumed he was reputable. I had recently moved and needed the floors redone in my previous home to get it ready to rent. When I pulled up the carpet, the original hardwood floors had deep stain spots. I had sanded and stained the living room 5 years before but had not found the time to refinish the 1st floor. The original idea was to refinish the whole 1st floor. I wanted an estimate on a professional invoice and expressed my desires to Mike. He drew up the estimate on a blank piece of paper and said he would email me a copy but never did. That should've been a red flag to me, but I assumed that once the job was done, I would get the official invoice. That never happened. In my estimation, no professional contractor draws up an estimate on a blank sheet of paper. All I have is the bank record that the check was cashed. It turns out that there were stains soaked deep into the original hardwood floors that couldn't be sanded out because they had soaked in too deep, and Mike suggested that it would be better to put in laminate floors because it was more cost effective and would look better -which it did. Initially, I was pleased with the job. But, three weeks after installation, the floor bowed up right smack dab in the middle of the hallway roughly 2 inches vertically. I called him right when I saw it and he gave me the runaround. I had already paid him so he had no incentive to fix the problem. Initially he blamed it on the humidity as it was the height of the summer. I spent $250 on a dehumidifier but the problem didn't go away. Mike was worried that if he trimmed back the wood, the problem would manifest itself somewhere else. Nothing has been done. The floor is still bowed up in the middle of the winter and I am a dissatisfied customer. At this time, I don't recommend this contractor.

FAQ
Does Majestic Hardwood Flooring offer free estimates for carpet and hardwood flooring projects?
We provide free estimates after visiting your property to measure the space and assess the current flooring condition. Pricing depends on factors like square footage, material quality, subfloor preparation needs, and whether it's carpet installation or hardwood re-sanding. This on-site evaluation ensures an accurate quote tailored to your specific project.
Are you licensed and insured for flooring work?
Majestic Hardwood Flooring carries full licensing and insurance to protect homeowners during carpet contracting and hardwood re-sanding jobs. We meet all local requirements in Greeley, CO, for safe and compliant service. Homeowners can verify our credentials directly with us before starting any work.
Does Majestic Hardwood Flooring handle hardwood floor re-sanding and old carpet removal?
We specialize in re-sanding worn hardwood floors to restore their original look and removing old carpet, as shown in our work on staircases revealing the subfloor. Our carpet contracting services include installation on prepared surfaces, while flooring expertise covers both carpet and hardwood renewal. Property managers rely on us for these tasks in rental properties and homes.
What is your typical timeline for a flooring project?
We discuss the estimated timeline during the initial quote, factoring in the project's size, such as carpet installation or hardwood re-sanding on County Road 53 in Greeley, CO. Most jobs complete within a few days, with clear start dates and arrival windows to minimize disruption. We keep you informed of any adjustments based on site conditions.
How does Majestic Hardwood Flooring handle cleanup and debris after the job?
We remove all debris, including old carpet and sanding dust, leaving your space clean and ready for use. Our process ensures floors are swept and vacuumed thoroughly post-installation or re-sanding. Homeowners appreciate returning to a tidy property without extra cleanup on their end.
Why is your professional approach better than DIY for re-sanding hardwood or installing carpet?
Our careful re-sanding technique revives worn hardwood floors evenly without damaging the wood grain, something DIY often risks with improper tools or pressure. Professional carpet contracting ensures proper subfloor prep and secure installation for longevity, avoiding bubbles or loose seams from amateur attempts. We answer questions throughout to deliver floors that stay solid and fresh longer than self-done projects.
