4 years agoWe were referred to Ozark via a prestigious landscaping design firm who was too busy this season to take on a fence project. I'll break apart the goods and the bads because I want to give an honest review. GOODS The fence looks nice They were able to start constructing it quickly The crew was nice BADS One night a crew member locked our gate to our driveway, to which we didn't have a key. I was trying to leave to pick my baby up from daycare and literally couldn't drive out of my property. I had to call both Ken and Karen 10+ times before they answered. They worked as quick as they could to get the gate open but I had to have the daycare center bring my child home. Not the biggest deal and mistakes happen, but it was a stressful inconvenience. The crew left soda bottles and food trash on our property every single day they were here. Ken offered to have his crew fix a city owned fence across from our property. Boards had fallen over and he was going to have them pick them up. This didn't happen. Again, not a big deal but I just wish he hadn't offered it and then decided not to do it. The construction team asked if we wanted to install an extra gate, which required removing a tree stump. This wasn't originally quoted but was a good idea. I got on the phone with Ken and when I asked how much he said "ah well we'll see how the rest of the job goes but I can probably just throw that in for ya," It didn't get thrown in, I got charged $450 for it. After a big confrontation with Karen in front of my home, they took $150 off. They put our front gate on backward... and took 4 weeks to come out and fix it. Working with Karen, Ken's wife, was really difficult. She took a long time to respond to both emails and phone calls, didn't seem to know anything about our job and kept repeating over and over that "well I'm not on the job site, so I don't know." In our final exchange I pushed back on the extra costs of the stump and gate after weeks of slowly going back forth and she was rude, uncaring and demonstrated what I can kindly call a complete lack of customer service, empathy and professional behavior. I wish I could say that I would recommend Ozark, but I honestly can't. I think their construction is pretty good, but the communication was really awful and at the end it was aggressive and rude. -

FAQ
How does Ozark Fence determine pricing for a fence installation?
We provide detailed written estimates that break down material costs, labor, site preparation, and debris removal so you understand exactly what you're paying for. Pricing depends on factors like fence type (wood, vinyl, wrought iron), project size, local building code requirements, and any special features such as gates or decorative elements. We're transparent about potential extra costs upfront, such as unexpected underground obstacles or additional reinforcements needed during installation. This approach ensures no surprises when the final invoice arrives.
Are you licensed and insured?
Ozark Fence maintains the proper licensing and insurance coverage required to operate in Lakewood and handle fence installations safely. This protects you from liability in case of accidents, property damage, or injuries that might occur during the project. Before hiring any fencing contractor, always verify current credentials and ask for proof of general liability and workers compensation insurance. We're happy to provide documentation of our credentials upon request.
What types of fences does Ozark Fence install?
We specialize in custom fence installations including wood privacy fences, vinyl fencing, wrought iron and ornamental metal gates, and commercial-grade metal railings. Our portfolio demonstrates expertise across residential and commercial applications, with attention to design details like lattice tops and decorative elements. We assess your property, listen to your needs for security, privacy, or aesthetics, and recommend the best material and design for your specific situation. We also handle gate installation and can work with designs that complement your landscaping or architectural style.
How long does a typical fence installation take?
Ozark Fence provides a realistic timeline during the estimate phase that includes when work will begin, expected duration, and factors that might cause delays. Project length varies based on fence type, property size, and site conditions, but we communicate clearly about scheduling so you know what to expect. We also discuss typical workday hours and whether the job will be completed in one visit or require multiple days. This transparency helps you plan accordingly and coordinate access to your property.
What does Ozark Fence do with debris and waste after installation?
We handle complete site cleanup as part of our service, removing excess materials, concrete, dirt piles, and debris so your property is left clean and ready to enjoy. This attention to detail is part of our commitment to handling every aspect of the project from design consultation through final walkthrough. You won't be left managing piles of waste or dealing with post-installation mess. Our team takes responsibility for leaving your yard in excellent condition.
Why is professional installation better than doing a fence yourself?
Professional installation ensures proper post depth, concrete anchoring, and structural integrity that DIY projects often lack, which directly affects how level and secure your fence remains for years. We understand local building codes and soil conditions specific to Lakewood, allowing us to anticipate challenges and prepare accordingly rather than discovering problems mid-project. Cutting corners during installation can lead to instability, misalignment, and costly repairs down the road. Our experience with advanced installation techniques and material selection means your fence is built to withstand the elements and maintain its appearance over time.
