2 months agoI have never experienced such shockingly poor management in my life. The leadership here is completely disorganized, unprofessional, and clearly uninterested in maintaining even the most basic level of competence. Problems are ignored, concerns are brushed off, and accountability simply does not exist. To make matters worse, two of the male employees were unbelievably incompetent. They lacked basic knowledge of their own responsibilities, gave incorrect information with confidence, and seemed more interested in avoiding work than actually helping customers. Simple tasks became frustrating ordeals because of their carelessness and inability to communicate effectively. Overall, the environment feels chaotic, poorly run, and disrespectful of customers' time. Until management takes responsibility and hires staff who are capable and professional, I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. -

FAQ
How does Proctor Mechanical & Refrigeration determine pricing for HVAC services?
We base pricing on the specific scope of work, including equipment needs, labor for installation or repair, and any required materials for your mechanical or refrigeration system. Factors like system size and complexity influence the final cost to ensure fair value. We provide detailed written estimates upfront to outline what is included and any potential extras.
Do you offer free estimates?
Proctor Mechanical & Refrigeration offers free estimates for HVAC installations, repairs, and maintenance to help you understand costs without commitment. Our quotes detail labor, parts, and scope so you know exactly what to expect. This approach allows time to review options before deciding.
Is Proctor Mechanical & Refrigeration licensed and insured for HVAC work?
We hold the necessary licensing and insurance required for HVAC contracting, including handling refrigerants and mechanical systems in homes and businesses. This covers general liability and workers' compensation to protect your property during service. You can request proof of our credentials before starting any job.
What is your typical timeline for HVAC repairs or installations?
We schedule services promptly with clear arrival windows, often completing standard repairs like boiler fixes on the same day. Larger installations for rooftop units or refrigeration systems may take 1-2 days depending on permitting and complexity. Our team communicates expected timelines upfront and adjusts for any unforeseen issues.
Does Proctor Mechanical & Refrigeration handle rooftop HVAC unit repairs and commercial refrigeration maintenance?
We manage repairs on rooftop HVAC units, including accessing and fixing components for smooth operation year-round. Our services extend to maintaining interior and exterior parts of commercial refrigeration units to prevent breakdowns. This covers both residential and business needs in the West Des Moines area.
Why is hiring you safer and better than attempting HVAC repairs as a DIY project?
Professional HVAC work requires specialized tools and knowledge to handle refrigerants, electrical components, and high-pressure systems without risking injury or further damage. Our methodical approach includes inspecting ductwork, verifying airflow, and testing performance to meet safety codes and manufacturer standards. DIY attempts often lead to inefficiencies, voided warranties, or hazards that trained technicians avoid through verified processes.
