2 months agoFirst, I'd like to say that the service was great! Craig had came out to take a look at our closet which developed surface mold due to moisture and lack of air circulation in the corner and helped us understand if there's other sources of water/moisture/leaks we need to be worried of. We got a quote which was very competitive and reasonable and moved forward to setting a date for the crew to clean and do a deeper assessment. We had accidentally forgotten that we agreed for the work to start on a Thurs instead of Friday, and the office called right away to clarify and sent the team out very quickly after we sent them away. The cleaning crew themselves were great! Shu, the forewoman, was on top of it, communicated the problem and solution in a very straightforward and simple manner. Was very thorough with pictures, instructions, and her assessment. Craig identified that we may need a moisture barrier in the crawlspace to really help decrease the amount of moisture impacting the walls during the rainy season. Another quote for the closet and bathroom clean-up was sent to us, which had not changed in terms of pricing. We knew that the 2nd project would require a new quote later. After 3 days of drying, we contacted Craig to coordinate time for pick up of the equipment. We also received the finalized invoice- the cost ended up being nearly 2x the original quote, which caught us off-guard. Craig explained that the labor hours had to increased from an estimated of 4 hrs to 12 hrs and covered for travel (though we only live about 2.5 mi away from his listed office) and equipment loading time, which surprised us as it was never mentioned or called out. There was already a $100 service/trip charge, so for additional hrs counted for travel felt unreasonable. The crew was on-site for 5 hours max. He did give us a discount which was appreciated, but we felt that the quotes and pricing model were not transparent. This really disappointed us, especially given the quality of service and how easy it was to work with Craig initially. We had a 2nd project to encapsulate the crawlspace which we went with another company whose pricing ended up exactly as estimated, despite taking a 1.5 days more than anticipated. -

12 months agoa D-63 license from the California State License Board (CSLB) does not specifically allow asbestos removal. A C-61 license is needed for specialized trades like asbestos removal. C-61 is a catch-all classification for very limited trades, and asbestos removal is one of the sub-classes, according to contractorschool.com. D-63 is a sub-class under C-61, which may be used for specific tasks within construction cleanup, but does not authorize asbestos removal Not licensed to do asbestos removal, however they do -

1 year agoI hired Bordi Restoration to abate chemical residue from plug-in diffusers that were used in my house. I had the owner Craig come to do the initial evaluation and he appeared competent. I sent Craig the specific chemical that was used in the diffuser to make sure he could remediate/abate it, and I was assured by those in his office he reviewed that material and that they could remediate it and if the plan did not work, they would come out again until my house was restored. Boy was I deceived. I had plans to be out of town while the remediation work was done, and Bordi worked while I was away. I entrusted Craig and his crew with the keys to the house and a lockable gate. Because the job ended up taking longer than expected, at additional cost to me, Bordi was at my house for close to four weeks on and off. During that entire time, my windows were not locked (granted some time the windows were completely left open to air the house out, I am referring to after closing up the windows and locking the doors, Bordi did not lock the locking widows, leaving the house vulnerable to break-in). Bordi's comment in text was to the effect I "had nothing of value in the house to steal". I had a lockable gate that during the almost month that Bordi was onsite that I specifically requested Bordi unlock and relock each time they came and went if they used that gate, they never once locked that gate. In the end, and this is on video, Bordi did not lock the gate upon being evicted by me from the job site while still being out of town. Bordi kept turning off the video from inside the house so that I could not see what was going on while work was being done. Bordi said his personnel needed to charge their cell phones and this happened on numerous occasions, and I had had enough, and my neighbors told me the remediation had not worked and Bordi himself told me in so many words the remediation failed. Bordi did, in an effort to fix the failed restoration, fully shampoo the house's new carpet, but in the end, the ozone machine that was supposed to do the majority of the abatement did not work and Bordi refused to use that again for whatever reason and he refused to return my money paid. I had to challenge my credit card company to get half back what I paid, and I won that challenge. I would not trust Bordi Restoration to do any work on my property. My texting with Craig Bordi shows him to not care about the contracts that he signs or how his company's behaviors impact customers. The chemicals I was in need of ridding this house of are known to kill animals and make humans very sick, and after Bordi got done, the contamination remained. Craig Bordi's attitudes about caring for my property were equally troubling. For a service provider to actually write that a person's home has nothing worth stealing when I have a brand new house built in 2023 with quartz countertops, custom cabinets, HVAC, hybrid heat pump water heater, solar, solar batteries, etc., but for him to even say this to a customer shows his complete disregard for all who would ever be his customer. -

3 years agoI have only once needed an asbestos abatement, and that was over 30 years ago on a different house. When a floor installer said we had to get the kitchen floor tested in our 1961 house, my heart sank. That abatement, far in the past, had been an awful experience and very expensive. I did a bit of online research and was pleased to see there were lots of choices, including Bordi Restoration, who had a five-star score from customers and glowing reviews. I wondered to myself how they had managed to have all those happy customers. Well, now I know. Bordi is prompt, friendly, kind, and thorough. Their prices are more than reasonable. They did a beautiful job on my home, above and beyond anything I expected. I cannot honestly say that I hope to see them again (that requires another big mess to clean up!) but I totally, wholeheartedly recommend them to others.

FAQ
Does Bordi Restoration offer free estimates for water damage restoration?
We provide free estimates for water damage, mold removal, and other restoration services. Our owner-led evaluations assess the extent of damage from issues like moisture buildup, sewage backups, or fire to determine the scope of work needed. Contact us at 510-418-2527 to schedule your no-cost assessment.
Are you licensed and insured for restoration work?
Bordi Restoration holds license #1062025 from the California State License Board and maintains proper insurance for water damage restoration, mold removal, and hazmat cleanup. We handle residential and commercial projects across the Bay Area with owner-led inspections for thorough evaluations. This ensures compliance with state regulations for services like structural drying and sewage cleanup.
Does Bordi Restoration handle mold removal from moisture issues?
We address mold growth caused by moisture buildup or poor air circulation through professional removal and structural drying. Our process includes water extraction, containment with plastic barriers, and debris removal to prevent recurrence. Homeowners benefit from our experience since 2015 in tackling these common issues in bathrooms, kitchens, and closets.
What is your typical timeline for water damage projects?
We offer 24/7 emergency service with rapid response for water extraction and setup of drying equipment to minimize damage spread. Most projects involve initial evaluation, demolition of affected areas, drying over several days, and final cleanup, depending on the severity. We coordinate schedules Monday through Saturday to fit your needs while working efficiently.
How does Bordi Restoration handle cleanup and debris after restoration?
We remove debris like insulation and damaged materials into bags during interior demolition and structural remediation. Plastic containment barriers keep the work area isolated, and we ensure the site is left clean after drying and repairs. This approach protects your home from cross-contamination during sewage, fire, or water damage projects.
Why is professional water damage restoration safer than DIY?
Professionals use specialized drying equipment and containment to fully eliminate moisture, preventing hidden mold growth that DIY methods often miss. Our owner-led evaluations identify structural issues like exposed plumbing or studs that require expert handling to avoid health risks from sewage or hazmat. Attempting DIY can lead to incomplete drying, ongoing damage, and costly repairs later.
