I have used Urban Arborist for several years to maintain and trim back a large fast growing Japanese Zelkova, four Plums, and one large Loquat tree. I have always been very pleased with their work. The crew was punctual, working effectively and efficiently. Working with Carlos and crew members for the last few years were great. They were professional, knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. And, they did an excellent job tidying and cleaning up afterward. They were thorough. I will be calling Urban Arborist soon for this year work.

Urban Arborist has trimming our trees for years. They do great work, plan with us beforehand what needs to de done, and check in with us about details while they are working. We've worked with Carlos's team repeatedly and appreciate how they remember what we've wanted done before and adjust to anything new that needs to be done.

Great work, solid company, very reliable, straight forward communication, and no bad surprises. I would definitely hire them again. The work for our trees isn't easy. We have talk trees on a very steep hill. They did great!

The Urban Arborist crew was top-notch: punctual, cordial, swift, orderly, and -- above all -- skilled. The challenge this year was to remove a platform embedded for a long time in the middle of our Japanese maple. The crew did this both carefully and expediously. The tree looks happier than it has in a long time, heading into a healthy spring. Thanks to you all! Noe Valley resident

Urban Arborist did a terrific job trimming a mature old San Francisco native Islais Cherry tree. This was the first major trimming of this tree since I had planted it 15 years ago, and I was completely impressed with the work performed.

FAQ

How does The Urban Arborist determine pricing for tree services like pruning, removal, or planting?

We assess pricing based on factors such as tree size, location accessibility, job complexity, and specific services needed like trimming, stump grinding, or disease management. Free on-site estimates allow us to evaluate your trees directly and provide a detailed, custom quote tailored to your property. This approach ensures transparent costs without hidden fees, helping you understand the value for precise tree care.

Are you licensed and insured for tree work?

The Urban Arborist carries full licensing and insurance, including liability and workers' compensation coverage to protect your property and our team during services like tree removal and cabling. This setup safeguards homeowners from risks associated with heavy equipment and heights involved in arborist work. Our professional standards reflect the commitment seen in handling challenging jobs such as removing 35-foot blighted trees from steep backyards.

Does The Urban Arborist handle tree planting and stump grinding?

We provide complete tree planting services, including careful sapling installation with root preparation and support staking plus watering bags for establishment on slopes or residential areas. Stump grinding follows tree removal to eliminate remnants and promote landscape recovery. These niche tasks ensure long-term tree health and property stability as part of our full care spectrum.

What is your typical timeline and arrival window for scheduled tree services?

We arrive on time within agreed windows, coordinating schedules after your estimate approval to fit your needs for pruning, removal, or bracing jobs. Most services complete in one day for standard properties, though complex removals like those on third-level backyards may require precise planning but finish efficiently. Clear communication from our office keeps you updated on exact timing.

What cleanup does The Urban Arborist provide after tree removal or trimming?

We remove all debris, chips, and waste from tree removal, pruning, or grinding, leaving your property clean and tidy. Thorough cleanup follows every job, as shown in reviews of our crews handling large ornamental pear trees or magnolia trims near roofs. This leaves your yard ready for immediate use without additional homeowner effort.

Why is hiring you safer and better than attempting DIY tree pruning or removal?

Professional methods use specialized tools and techniques to avoid property damage, personal injury, or tree instability common in DIY efforts lacking expertise. Our crews apply precise cuts for health, like sensitive magnolia trimming or blight management, preventing issues such as improper bracing that leads to future failures. Trained teams handle risks on slopes or near structures far more securely than untrained attempts.
