I had both my rooftop units fail as we struggled through Covid. Others had verified that they were at the end of their life. It has been a year now since the last one has been installed and I have no complaints. I remember them so well because they were 30-40% cheaper than the big companies.

Don explained our architect plans and best way to add our AC system. Spent almost 4 hours chatting afterwards! Great time, did our previous house (two 4-ton units)

Warning: Don't use this company to work on your AC system! They don't take responsibility for their techs work. I had an issue with my heating AC system where it was creating excess condensation which was causing a leak from the unit when cool air flow would be on. So I contacted American Home Shield my warranty company to send someone to fix the issue. The sent me DCAC Air to service my unit. Upon coming to my unit the stated they needed to insulate the piping that was causing the condensation and clear the line of any debris. Which was fine by me. After they were done my tenant who was on site stated they never turned on the system to make sure the leak had stopped after their fix and left a mess after the work was performed. I informed him to turn on the system and check that the work was performed adequately. Upon turning in the system the cooling system was not working at all and the vents let out only room temperature air. I immediately called DCAC to complain of the shabby workmanship and the now inoperable Cooling function. They refused to comeback after I requested a recall through AHS home warranty. They don't like to take responsibility for their mistakes and now I have to find another vendor to fix what they broke. Keep away at all costs from having them touch your HVAC unit.

I experienced terrible customer service during my most recent visit. Workers came out to repair a leak in my ac unit only to leave the unit broken and unable to perform functions for a specific mode. The workers came back after being sent back by their manager only to deny any wrong doing in the system being broken. They said they didn't not cause the system to not be able to close properly and there for were not responsible for fixing it. The workers then left without me speaking to management. Terrible company would recommended in the least! Morale of the story is, even if you believe you did not break the system, it wasn't broken before you came into the home. So take responsibility instead of lying like a child, and have your company do what they can to fix the issue.

We had a great experience with this company! About a month after they installed our unit something happened & it quit working. My husband & I tried to figure out what was wrong but we couldn't so we called DCAC back. Somehow an auto shut off door had opened on the unit (probably from my kids jumping) they screwed the door shut so it wouldn't happen again & didn't even charge us! Happy customer

FAQ

How does DC AC Air Conditioning & Heating determine pricing for HVAC installations and repairs?

We provide custom quotes based on a thorough evaluation of your system and home. For installations, we conduct a load calculation to properly size equipment for your space, which accounts for your home's layout, insulation, windows, and local climate. For repairs, we assess the specific issue and provide an itemized estimate that breaks down labor, parts, and any additional work needed. We're transparent about what's included in our quote so you understand costs upfront and avoid surprises on your final bill.

Are you licensed and insured, and how can I verify your credentials?

DC AC Air Conditioning & Heating maintains the licensing and insurance required to operate as an HVAC contractor in San Diego. When you contact us, we can provide proof of our credentials and answer any questions about our certifications. It's important to verify that any HVAC contractor you hire carries workers compensation and general liability insurance, and our team is prepared to share that documentation with you before work begins.

Does DC AC Air Conditioning & Heating handle complex systems like rooftop units and architect-designed setups?

Yes, we work on both residential and commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop units and custom architect-planned installations. Our hands-on approach means we take time to understand your specific setup, whether it's a straightforward residential unit or a more complex commercial configuration. We've handled multiple rooftop replacements and can troubleshoot and repair systems that other contractors may find challenging.

What should I expect for scheduling and how long will the installation or repair take?

DC AC Air Conditioning & Heating works with you to schedule service at a time that fits your needs. Installation timelines depend on the scope of work-a straightforward replacement typically takes less time than a full system installation with ductwork modifications. During your initial consultation, we'll discuss the expected timeline and walk you through what to expect on the day of service, including how long technicians will be on-site and when your system will be operational.

How does DC AC Air Conditioning & Heating handle cleanup and protection of my home during service?

We treat your home with respect and take care to minimize disruption during installation or repair work. Our team uses drop cloths and protective coverings to contain debris and protect your floors and furnishings. After work is complete, we clean up the work area and remove waste materials so your home is left in good condition. We also walk you through system operation and maintenance after installation so you understand how to care for your new equipment.

Why is a professional HVAC installation safer and more effective than attempting DIY work?

HVAC systems involve refrigerant handling, electrical connections, precise equipment sizing, and ductwork design-all of which require specialized training and certification. Improper installation can reduce efficiency, shorten equipment life, and create safety hazards. We follow industry best practices including proper refrigerant charge verification, correct line set sizing, condensate drain installation, and static pressure testing to ensure your system performs as designed. A professional installation also preserves manufacturer warranties and ensures your system meets local building codes and permitting requirements.
