I strongly recommend avoiding Ridout Lumber for window measuring or ordering. After hail damage, my wife and I hired Ridout to measure and order replacement Windsor windows. Their employee, Mike S. measured everything, including five picture windows for our living room, but the windows arrived in the wrong size (11/2" too shallow and 3" too tall). This was not our contractor's mistake or ours. When the issue was discovered, we asked about getting the correct windows, but were told that wasn't an option. Instead, Ridout suggested trimming out the openings using special wood and metal trim. We agreed, assuming Ridout would stand behind their mistake, but they refused to cover the $1,250 in extra costs created by their sizing error. The total cost of the windows were just shy of $30,000. To make matters worse, Ridout also refused to supply the metal trim pieces that they said were required to complete the fix. Their response to us has been inconsistent, unhelpful, and at times evasive. They even told the BBB they would "work with us," then immediately told our contractor they would not order any additional materials for our job. We have dealt with unnecessary stress, delays, and added expense because of Ridout's mistakes and poor customer service. In 20 years in the Navy, I learned to own my mistakes, unfortunately, Ridout does not seem to operate by the same standard. I cannot recommend them.

Customer service was terrible. We stood at the desk for a bit. No one asked if we needed help for a few minutes. When finally someone acknowledged us, we showed him a picture of the bracket we needed. He nodded his head in a direction and said it might be over on that wall. In the meantime another customee came in, we noticed the sales rep actually got up and showed this one. We did find what we needed, but then had to wait once again to pay out while three sales people ignored us. When we got outside, we noticed the first guy gave us a totally wrong receipt for what we bought.

I toured hell over the last 18 months working on a project with Springdale's Ridout (formerly Meeks) and their incompetent team, which I only say based on the following facts: I bought $17,500 worth of windows and screens December 2023, and they were installed May 2024. 2 out of 4 pull-down/retractable screens broke on the first use. I called and was told by the receptionist to call the manufacturer directly, not them. Ok, weird, but I did. The manufacturer seemed less than happy with that, and after sending photos back and forth, they sent me a component that I was supposed to install myself by disassembling the screen unit... instead of just sending a whole new unit. With no instructions, I spent two hours on the screen and couldn't get the replacement to work properly. The manufacturer ignored my follow-up communications requesting instructions, so I finally called Ridout back. I was sent to someone named Tanner (my sales rep had moved locations). Tanner asked for photos, promised quick results-then no response. Over the next three months, I called half a dozen times, and he gave as many excuses, finally ignoring my (always polite, though frustrated) calls and emails entirely. By September, I got someone else assigned to the case, Rich. Rich apologized for Tanner's failures and said he'd work on it, but he hedged himself by saying I shouldn't expect immediate results... between September 2024 and March 2025, we had over a dozen phone calls and more messages (and more photos; this was the 3rd time). He ghosted me for long stretches of time and when I got through to him would apologize, saying he was busy, or had forgotten. In March, I called the store and the receptionist told me that Rich was now no longer with the company, and that Meeks had been taken over by Ridout so my case was "going to have to wait." Because I hadn't waited long enough apparently. She said Rich's desk was a mess of papers and it would be a while before someone found my information to continue "working on it." When I asked to be transferred to a supervisor to talk about it, saying it had been over a year (a freaking year) of dealing with this, the receptionist actually laughed in my ear, saying no, she wouldn't do that. After some other calls, I got connected with Ridout Fayetteville, and Doug, the manager there, got me sorted out (more photos, which I sent; and then he came physically to take photos). 3 MORE months later, Doug had the screens and sent an installer over to put them in. Now, one year later, we have screens that work-and I have to paint them again before we move houses at the end of the summer. Really enjoyed those screens. I'll reiterate, I was always calm and patient, despite swirling through the vortex of hades for dozens of hours of my life-hours that were wasted on a pair of screens by the disorganized, chaotic and incompetent employees of Meeks/Ridout Springdale. Take heed of my year of being marooned at Ridout Springdale and steer very, very clear of its siren song-your time and sanity are worth it.

UPDATE: I've changed my rating from 1 star to 3 stars because I called after this review, and within 24 hours they were able to find my window. Kenny and Dave were the two people who helped me out. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Years ago, I ordered a variety of windows with no issue. This past Dec. (2024) I ordered a window. They charged my credit card in Jan ($1,000). The window was supposed to be in by mid-Feb. March came around, and I hadn't received any notification so I went to Rideout (formerly Meeks) to inquire. They said my window had come in, but they couldn't locate it. They would call me when they found it. It's now April, and I haven't heard anything - I'll call next week. I want the window I ordered because it will probably be even more expensive now. They blamed the error on a new computer system.
