We've used Professional Electric (PE) since 2020 for various projects in our older home (built 1952). We would especially like to recognize the work and support we've received from Mr. Ivan Ray. We really can't say enough about his knowledge, skill, and expertise. He's done an outstanding job for us and he's the primary reason we continue to utilize PE services. It's comforting to know that we have access to such a skilled tradesman for our home.

Professional installed Kidde smoke alarms in our home. They went off several times in middle of night. The company returned twice to adjust but they never worked right. We finally got tired of calling the company and threw them away. Also, the workers left a lot of holes and torn sheetrock around the outlets. They removed 2-3 pieces of lumber from the porch stairs and replaced lumber in backwards manner. (Why remove ?). We got another electrician to check their work and found junction box wires in attic that were not turned and finished correctly. Previously, Professional had done some excellent work for us with vent fans for bathroom and recessive lighting.

Ivan is fantastic! Saw them at my neighbors and I inquired about having them give me an assessment on damage to my house after the recent storms. They came over and fixed us right up! Would recommend them to everyone and will use this company again in the future.

FAQ

How does Professional Electric determine pricing for electrical work?

We provide free estimates for all electrical projects, whether it's a simple outlet replacement or a full panel upgrade. During the estimate, we assess the scope of work, materials needed, and labor time to give you an accurate quote upfront. This way, you'll know the full cost before we begin any work, and there won't be surprise charges when the job is complete.

Are you licensed and insured?

Professional Electric maintains all required licensing and insurance to protect both our team and your home. When you hire a licensed electrician, you're ensuring the work meets local electrical codes and safety standards. Insurance coverage means you're protected if any accidents occur during the project, giving you peace of mind throughout the job.

Does Professional Electric handle electrical work for older homes and new additions?

We specialize in serving Mobile families with homes of all ages, including older properties built decades ago. Our team handles everything from rewiring and panel upgrades to installing new circuits for home additions and remodels. We take time to explain every step of the process, which is especially important when working with older electrical systems that may have unique challenges or code updates needed.

How long does a typical electrical project take, and when can you schedule the work?

Professional Electric provides a timeline estimate during your initial consultation based on the specific work required. Simple jobs like replacing outlets or switches may take less than an hour, while panel upgrades or rewiring typically take one to two days. We'll discuss our availability and work schedule with you upfront so you can prepare your home and plan around any power shutoffs that may be necessary.

What should I expect Professional Electric to do with debris and how will my home be left after the work?

We clean up after ourselves and leave your home in the condition it was found, minus the completed electrical work. If our work requires cutting into walls or siding, we discuss this with you beforehand and clarify whether we'll handle repairs or if you'll need another contractor. Our goal is to minimize disruption to your home and ensure the work area is safe and tidy when we're finished.

Why should I hire a professional electrician instead of attempting electrical work myself?

Electrical work involves serious safety hazards that require proper training, tools, and licensing to perform correctly. A professional electrician ensures all work meets local building codes and passes inspection, protecting your home from fire hazards, electrical shocks, and system failures. Additionally, licensed work typically comes with a warranty, so if any issues arise, the electrician will return to fix them at no extra cost rather than leaving you responsible for costly repairs.
