2 months agoI've used Thomas since 2019 to perform preventative maintenance on my HVAC system. I've been happy with the service provided by the techs. Since the transition to Thomas Services, overhead has spiked and driven repair costs to use national averages, why are we including New York and California to price jobs in Huntsville. When the technician finished the last preventative maintenance visit, he presented me with a ~7k estimate of fixes for things he recommended. One of those items was the compressor fan that is still operating because the paint has come off the fan body and "can cause premature failure". Well I've seen compressor fans run for years after surface rust appeared on the fan body with no impact. The old adage of if its not broke don't fix it applied in this situation. In addition, he provided a quote for insulation and tried to use high pressure tactics to seal the deal. Oh i'm not sure how long the TVA rebate will be available or how long we will offer the low price per foot on insulation. Then the tech started to discuss some of the items he could of thrown in to seal the deal from the quote. Well if you could afford to throw those items in, why didn't you just start with reasonable prices? You may of got the job then. Instead of providing the customer the option on type of insulation to be blown in, it was already decided that it was gonna be fiberglass. WAIT the builder already installed cellulose, so any fire resistant benefit you are trying to sell me on is null and void. Instead I hired a smaller company and paid 1/2 of the price quoted after rebate by Thomas. In addition, the other company reinstalled/ replaced baffles, ensured all my soffits were clear, and checked that all my bathroom fans were vented outside which was not included in the scope of work quoted by Thomas as the quote simply stated "Install White Insulation".

FAQ
Does Thomas Service Company offer free estimates for HVAC and appliance repair?
We provide free estimates for HVAC repairs, appliance fixes, and plumbing services to help you understand costs upfront. Pricing depends on the job's scope, such as parts needed, labor time, and any diagnostic testing required for issues like cooling system failures or oven breakdowns. Contact us to schedule an on-site assessment where we explain the full breakdown before any work begins.
Are you licensed and insured for HVAC and plumbing work?
Thomas Service Company carries all necessary licensing, bonding, and insurance, including general liability and workers' compensation, to protect your property during service. Our technicians meet local requirements for handling refrigerants and performing repairs on HVAC systems and appliances. We follow standard industry practices to ensure safe, compliant work on every job.
Does Thomas Service Company handle AC unit servicing, duct cleaning, and air filter replacement?
We manage a full range of HVAC tasks, including servicing outdoor AC units, cleaning ducts for better air quality, and replacing dirty air filters to maintain efficiency. Our team also checks electrical components with tools like multimeters and inspects furnaces using tablets for accurate diagnostics. These services extend to appliance repairs and plumbing needs commonly found in homes.
What should I expect for arrival times and scheduling with you?
We call ahead to confirm your appointment and arrive within the agreed time window for HVAC, appliance, or plumbing services. Technicians provide updates if any delays occur, ensuring you can plan your day. Scheduling is straightforward, with options for same-day or next-day visits depending on availability in the Huntsville area.
Does Thomas Service Company clean up after HVAC and appliance repairs?
We leave your home clean and tidy after every job, removing debris like old air filters, duct dust, or replaced parts from repairs. Technicians use drop cloths and shoe covers to protect floors and surfaces during work on AC units, furnaces, or appliances. This approach minimizes mess and respects your space from start to finish.
Why is your professional approach safer than DIY for HVAC filter changes or duct cleaning?
Our method uses specialized tools like multimeters for electrical checks and proper equipment for duct access, avoiding risks like shocks or poor airflow that DIY attempts often cause. Professionals ensure correct refrigerant handling and system balance, preventing costly damage from improper filter installs or incomplete cleanings. Homeowners save time and avoid voiding warranties by letting us handle these tasks with hands-on expertise.
