2 weeks agoThis will be a detailed review. It's better to know too much than not enough. I had two issues with the hardwood floors in my home. First, one of the boards in the middle of the living room decided to curl one of its edges. There was no moisture or any other reason for this to occur, but it did, creating a cupping effect (not a crowning). The second issue was all the squeaks in the kitchen area. I got Grain Design Flooring's name from a neighbor of mine who was having a new floor installed. My neighbor said they were doing a great job and my neighbor is extremely particular. So I called. An appointment was scheduled for an estimate. Dakota came out to give me an estimate for removing the curled board and each one of the boards that was touching the curled board. This is done because it's difficult take out one board without damaging the others and for matching and blending the stain. I was very impressed with Dakota. He is a fine young man. Personable and knowledgeable. He followed up, as promised, with a written estimate emailed to me within 2 days. The price seemed fair. I scheduled the repair. Matt, one of the owners, came out to do the repair. He decided NOT to remove the boards but to sand them instead. Matt is extremely talented, has over 20 years of experience with wood, knows his craft, and is very personable. He color matched the stain on the now sanded boards so well (he's got a great "eye") that it's impossible to tell where the work was done. He stayed focused on the job but easily interacted with my wife and me. When it came to the squeaky floor boards in the kitchen, Matt patiently worked with me in identifying every one. We resolved some of the squeaks from the basement since an unfinished portion gave us access to the subfloor of the kitchen. Other squeaks were resolved from the top down by a fascinating technique Grain Floor uses which makes it impossible to see any "fix". To say that Matt is remarkable is a complete understatement. I couldn't be happier with the results. Dakota, Matt, and Grain Design Flooring have my highest recommendation. -

Dakota & his team at Grain Design Flooring were amazing to work with. The installers were very professional & did an excellent installation. My remodeling contractor says he's going to work with them in the future for sure. For reference I had Canyon Signature XL Mojave Oak installed in the entire home. Thank you Dakota! -

3 months agoThese guys did a great job on our floors, and they're a very friendly crew both in the office and the field. We had new hardwood floors put down over the existing 130 year old floors. Alex and his crew did a great job leveling the floors out (130 years of settling left a slope in two directions of up to 1.5" in two rooms of the house) before laying the new floor. The whole process was great: they worked with our schedule, answered all our questions, great cleanup, couldn't be happier. Highly recommend. -
