The flooring ( Tarkett vinyl plank) from Variety was to be installed on a certain date but the acclimation for the vinyl plank was not done. In fact the person in charge from Variety stated that they never do this. The requirement for the warranty to be valid from Tarkett was to acclimate the flooring in our home for a minimum of 24 hours. I brought this to the attention of the person in charge from Variety. They would also not tell us if the correct adhesive required by Tarkett would be used. I offered to expedite the install process by supplying them with the link to purchase the necessary adhesive. I also told them I would pay for extra costs for the shipping for the adhesive so as to not delay the install. They were aware that other companies were involved in the remodel of our rooms. They knew that a Murphy bed wall/ cabinets needed to be installed after they completed the flooring and that the install was scheduled. The owner refused to complete the contracted work. We had also purchased and had installed porcelain tile from Variety. This was a bathtub to shower conversion. The reason for the bathroom remodel and Murphy bed wall cabinet installation were because my 88 year young Mother would be staying with us. Variety walked off the job. This left us with the floor in the bedroom ( luckily we had not removed the carpet) bathroom unfinished and the Murphy bed wall/ cabinets could not be installed. Variety/ owner simply did not care. Had we proceeded with the vinyl plank install and Variety did not follow the specific instructions and materials to be used the warranty would have been voided. The owner was gracious enough to offer us a $19 discount if I still wanted the flooring. I never write reviews but I feel we have been so unfairly treated that I needed to. Very sad.

Buyer beware, we recently purchased a home in the Bluffton area that had LVP flooring installed by Variety Floors within the past 6 months, we notice that when walking on the floor you can heard the crinkling of the plastic moisture vapor barrier that is installed under the LVP flooring. We had both the sales manager and installer out to look at the situation both recognizing the issue. Upon following up we were informed that if a lightweight product like the one installed this noise may be the result Since we are not the original buyers of the product and the fact they state if a heavy product was installed this would not be a problem we are left with the floors as is. This is a warning to anyone purchasing LVP from Variety Flooring to ask about this possible situation on your newly installed floors.

They put LVP over my wood floors even though I asked 3 times if they could do it and they said they'd never had a problem. The floor started bubbling in a few spots within 6 months. They came out and looked at it and there was rotted and what looked like mildew or mold on the wood underneath. Long story short, the wood under the whole house other than kitchen and bathrooms (they were tiled) had to be removed and replaced. The original work they did cost me $13,000+. They coughed up $8,000 from their insurance company and still wanted $2500 for the portion that they sent out a contractor for partial removal which we refused to pay. The total cost of removal and replacement was $32,000+. What really upset me was I spoke with a neighbor who had them replace her floors 5 years earlier and I asked if they removed the old floor and she said, "Oh yes, that was required to lay the new floor." So they had already done work in our neighborhood and knew the original floor needed to be removed before they started. It was 10 weeks of living from room to room to have it redone. You can imagine I have little trust in their work and do not recommend them.

FAQ

How does Variety Floor Covering determine pricing for carpet installation?

We assess your space through a site visit to measure accurately and evaluate surface preparation needs, then provide a custom quote based on carpet type, padding, and total square footage. This ensures you receive competitive pricing without hidden fees, as seen in our bids that came in lowest among multiple options. Factors like precision cutting, stretching, and seaming are included to deliver value for residential and commercial projects.

Do you offer free estimates for carpet installation?

Variety Floor Covering provides free estimates after an initial site assessment to review your space and discuss your specific needs. Our quotes factor in measurements, material selections, and any required preparation for accurate pricing. This approach helps homeowners compare options confidently before committing.

Is Variety Floor Covering licensed and insured for flooring work?

We maintain proper licensing and insurance to protect both our team and your property during carpet, flooring, and tile installations. Our professional installers follow industry standards for safe, high-quality results in residential and commercial settings. This coverage gives homeowners peace of mind throughout the process.

What is the typical timeline and arrival window for your installations?

We schedule installations to fit your availability, with most residential carpet jobs completing in one day after site preparation. Our team arrives at the agreed time window, ready with tools for stretching, seaming, and finishing to minimize disruption. Clear communication ensures you know exactly when to expect us on-site.

What does Variety Floor Covering do with debris and cleanup after carpet installation?

We handle all waste removal, including old flooring, excess carpet, and packaging materials, leaving your space clean and ready for use. Our installers tuck edges neatly and inspect the work before final cleanup. This thorough process means you can move furniture back in without additional sweeping or disposal efforts.

Why is professional carpet installation safer and better than DIY?

Our method starts with site assessment and surface preparation, followed by precise cutting, power stretching, and seaming for a wrinkle-free, durable finish that DIY tools can't match. Professionals use specialized equipment to secure padding and join seams invisibly, preventing trips, wear, or voids in warranty. Attempting it yourself risks uneven results, subfloor damage, and shorter carpet lifespan due to lack of proper tension and adhesion.
