1 week agoJared is one of the most responsive contractors I have ever encountered. He listened carefully and solved all issues came up. His crew members were fast and highly skilled. They worked like well oiled machine and finished 3000sqft of lvp flooring in 3 and a half days. The Floors look beautiful and comfortable under your feet. Highly recommend! -

3 weeks agoThe team was super responsive, even for my fairly small problem! The quote was very reasonable, and they got the work done the next business day after giving me the quote, and the work itself was perfect. Done fast, quality work, and at a good price? What more can you ask for! -

4 weeks agoI scheduled an estimate for 2/9 from 2pm to 3pm. Received confirmation on 2/5 via text and email with a contact number. Received an email reminder on 2/8 via email. Received a text reminder on 2/9 in the morning reiterating our 2pm-3pm window and letting me know "Jared" had been assigned. No one showed up. I texted the contact number at 3:10pm and received no response. I called the contact number at 3:40pm and was sent to voicemail. I left a voicemail asking for a call back. I called back again at 4pm and it went straight to voicemail. It's 5:30pm now. If you can't make it to the estimate, I don't have a lot of confidence you'll make it to the job. No response to my text or phone call is extremely unprofessional. This was my day off. -

2 months agoWould not recommend. We were sold a service that would not fix the problem we reported but were not informed of that until after the unnecessary service was completed. We contacted Jared because of spots on our hardwood floor, caused by improper cleaning on our part. We sent Jared pictures, and he recommended a "screen & recoat" at the cost of $1045. Once the work was complete, there was no change to the spots. We informed Jared as such and he then informed us "The spots are indicative of a chemical interaction between oil and the water based finish. Ricky, the technician mentioned that he shared this info with you and your wife. This is why the trouble spots remain after a screen/coat. The only fix to resolve the oil spots is a full sand/refinish." After screening the floor, I asked Ricky about the spots because they were still there. He said that's because he sanded them and there was no finish on them. This was implying the finish would make them go away. Most importantly, we contacted this business because we wanted the spots removed. That was the chief complaint. The remedy suggested by Jared knowingly would not fix the problem, and he went ahead a scheduled us for a $1045 service that did not address the underlying issue. Here is what I would expect from a business that has their customer's best interest in mind: "From the photos, this looks like a cleaner/polish residue (oil soaps, vinegar mixes, steam mops, or "mop-and-shine" acrylics etc.) reacting with spills than a missing sealer. If you like I can have a crew come by and take a look but based on the pictures a screen & recoat will likely refresh protection. (This was the actual verbiage I received via email about on diagnosis and proposed solution. I would have appreciated the next sentence) However, if you want the spots totally removed, that will require a full sand/refinish which is around the same cost as when we originally refinished the floors (~$3300). Had we been given the full picture, we would not have scheduled any services. It is incumbent on the experts to fully inform the customer of solutions and expected outcomes so they can make a well-informed decision. This did not happen here. Other issues - The tech was over an hour late. Jared said this would be an all-day job. The job took an hour. When I asked if there needed to be an adjustment on labor costs, he informed me they charge for a full day regardless of how long the job takes. That was surprising to me. If they had three jobs in my area that day, they could charge us all for a full day's work, when the total would be three hours of actual work. This may be standard practice, but it seems unfair to the consumer.

FAQ
Are estimates free from Footprints Floors of Northern Virginia?
We provide free estimates to assess your carpet installation or flooring needs. Our process includes measuring the space, discussing options like carpet replacement or LVP flooring, and offering transparent pricing based on the job's requirements. This allows you to understand the full scope without upfront costs.
Are you licensed and insured?
Footprints Floors of Northern Virginia holds proper licensing and insurance to protect your home and our team during carpet and flooring projects. We prioritize safety and accountability in every installation, especially in older homes or those with challenging subfloors like concrete slabs over marine clay. This coverage ensures peace of mind for homeowners throughout the process.
Does Footprints Floors of Northern Virginia handle subfloor preparation and LVP flooring installation?
We manage extensive subfloor preparation as needed, particularly for older residences built on concrete slabs or marine clay, to ensure a stable base for new carpet or flooring. Our services include LVP flooring installation, where the team focuses on professional, detail-oriented work for seamless results. This preparation prevents common issues like uneven surfaces or premature wear.
What is the typical timeline and how do you handle scheduling?
We confirm estimates via text and email with a specific arrival window, such as 2pm to 3pm, and send reminders to keep you informed. Crews arrive on time each day and complete even small jobs quickly, often the next business day after quoting. Clear communication throughout ensures your project stays on track without delays.
What happens to old carpet and debris after Footprints Floors of Northern Virginia completes the job?
We remove and dispose of old carpet and debris as part of the installation process, leaving your space clean and ready for use. Our crew handles cleanup meticulously, especially after detailed preparations in hallways or landings. This step ensures your home returns to a tidy state immediately following completion.
Why is professional flooring installation safer and better than DIY?
Our approach involves responsive communication, transparent pricing, and expert handling of challenges like subfloor prep in 75-year-old homes, which DIY often overlooks and leads to failures. Professionals deliver swift execution with attention to detail, avoiding risks such as improper leveling on marine clay that causes buckling or gaps. Homeowners benefit from work that lasts longer without the hazards of rented tools or inexperienced cuts.
