2 years agoOur floors themselves look okay but they left a mess. There is stain everywhere it's not suppose to be. We have to pay a painting company to clean up the mess left. The job took twice the time. I'm disappointed. -

5 years agoUTTER DISAPPOINTMENT!!!! See photos! Ricky installed about 250 SF of new floors and refinished about 1500 SF of ten-year-old floors. Dozens of gouges, improper sanding throughout, poor application, mess throughout the whole house and outside, poly drips six-feet high on walls, pooled poly everywhere. Awful job. No attention to detail. Ricky suggested we "ignore the problems." He tried to "quick-fix" everything-- his "fix" of dozens of problems, took two hours, and in many ways, made the problems worse. No attention to detail, no attention to quality. He left a mess for us to clean-up. He promised "no dust" and there is major dust throughout the entire three-levels. We paid $4000, as agreed, and offered an additional $1000 if he'd do the actual work to fix the issues. He did a terrible job. He lied about how he would fix the problems. Took eight days instead of the promised four. So distressed we have to look at this everyday. Buyer Beware!!! -

5 years agoSanding was very uneven: floors were gouged in dozens of prominent places. Application of poly was uneven, and installed too early. Almost no attention to detail. An expected four-day job turned into nine days. Ricky installed about 300 SF of new floor and refinished about 1700 SF of ten-year old floors. On the new floor, he installed one small broken, splintered piece- right In front of the door where it would be walked on everyday. In some ways, the floors look worse than before he started. Ricky rushed our job, blamed his men, and lied to me continuously about what he was doing to "make it right." Ricky is most concerned with quick work, not quality. As he left the last time, he said, "you have to overlook the problem areas." The quality is an F. -

6 years agoI had a hole in the floor where an old in-floor furnace was. I repaired the hole to where the hardwood floor could be seamed in. Ricky said he could match the color of the wood with the existing floor. He used new hardwood rather than getting old wood from a restoration store. The area where he patched stands out really bad and is in the center of the room just as you walk into the house. The rest of the floor looks fine, but he got stain and clear coat all over the baseboards and never cleaned it up. I would NOT recommend this guy to refinish your floors. Communication was horrible and he did a sloppy job. -

7 years agoHorrible company ruined my 50 year old hardwood floors. I had to have them replaced, cost me thousands more. He now ignores my calls. Don't go with this company for a deal you'll end up spending much more after Ricky T. Before you choose remember Ricky T Is Shiesty!

FAQ
Does Ricky T's Hardwood Flooring offer free estimates before starting work?
We provide custom quotes for all flooring projects based on the scope of work, room size, and specific services needed. Whether you need new hardwood installation, color matching, seam repairs, or refinishing, we assess your space and existing floors to give you an accurate estimate. Contact us with details about your project, and we'll schedule a time to evaluate what's needed.
Are you licensed and insured for hardwood flooring work?
Ricky T's Hardwood Flooring maintains the proper licensing and insurance required to perform flooring installation and refinishing work in Richmond, VA. We recommend verifying our credentials and asking for proof of insurance before any work begins. This protects both you and our team throughout the project.
Can Ricky T's Hardwood Flooring match my existing hardwood floors when adding new sections?
Yes, we specialize in color matching and seaming repairs to blend new hardwood with your existing floors. Whether you're filling a hole from a removed fixture or adding new sections, we work to ensure the wood tones and grain patterns integrate seamlessly. This requires careful selection and finishing techniques to achieve the best visual result.
How long does a typical hardwood installation or refinishing project take?
Ricky T's Hardwood Flooring handles projects ranging from small repairs of 250 square feet to large refinishing jobs of 1,500 square feet or more. Timeline depends on the scope-new installations and refinishing with sanding and finishing typically require several days. We'll provide a realistic schedule during your estimate so you can plan accordingly.
What does Ricky T's Hardwood Flooring do with debris and mess after the job is complete?
We remove installation-related debris and waste materials from your home as part of our service. A thorough cleanup ensures your space is left in good condition. We recommend doing a final walkthrough with our team before they leave to address any questions about the finished work and the condition of your home.
Why should I hire a professional instead of attempting hardwood flooring work myself?
Professional hardwood installation and refinishing require specialized equipment like power stretchers, sanders, and seaming tools that most homeowners don't have access to. Improper sanding can create gouges and uneven surfaces, while incorrect finishing application leads to durability issues and poor appearance. Our experience with color matching, seam placement, and finishing techniques ensures results that DIY work typically cannot achieve, protecting your investment long-term.
